I know...Atlanta is just a general traffic nightmare, however wanted to give a heads up to those who may be traveling to or from WDW over the holiday weekend and will be passing through Atlanta. There are a number of large crowd drawing events in the city this weekend that are likely to cause heavier than normal traffic.
Tonight, both Georgia Tech, the Atlanta Falcons and Braves have games going on. However the big traffic will occur over the weekend and particularly Saturday as DragonCon, Braves game and the UGA v Boise State game will be going on. They are opening the stadium parking lot at 7:00 a.m. for tailgaters for the UGA game. (Go Dawgs!)
Also, there are races at Atlanta Motor Speedway over the weekend. The big race is Sunday night. The speedway is located in a town south of the city off of I-75.
Hopefully the worst of it can be avoided by taking I-285 around the city. Then you're just left with any traffic brought on by the races.
