Labor Day Weekend Wonder 4 day 9/5

Well, we already have reservations at the Holiday Inn in Deland because we are attending a wedding there, so that's where we will be driving down to PC from....about an hour I think, so even if they SHOULD move departure to Tampa, it's about the same distance for us....and I'd LOVE to cruise to the Western Caribbean as opposed to Nassau....I can hope can't I? HAHA Just trying to be positive about this entire situation. I still we can't go wrong, regardless and if a lot of people cancel, more ship for us!!! :-)

I just got off the phone with a DCL CM that told me that (if we are able to sail) the ship will not be stoping in the Bahamas or Castaway Cay.

So much for our first cruise...looks like we might be going to nowhere.

WELL THAT HARDLY SEEMS FAIR!!! Surely they will switch ports of call or SOMETHING! I sure hope so, anyway.....I can't imagine they would have very many happy folks on their ship if they don't make some sort of arrangements....I sure won't be!!!

You don't suppose they might take us down to Mexico or South America or something? Surely we won't travel in a big circle for four days! I know the fine print says somewhere that we are not promised Nassau or Castaway Cay but the word "compensation" comes to mind. I will have fun no matter what but if I am only have part of the attraction I'd rather just pay part of the price.

- John, whom DCL has not even responded to my email let alone called me. I'll be done pouting in a day or two. I had prepared myself for the posibility of cloudy days but not missing islands. I'm sending myself to my room. In a few days, I'll send myself to my cabin.

We are still fretting about when we should leave and where we should go. I guess we should feel sort of lucky that we're not flying... At least we don't have to depend on an airline to decide when and where we'll go!

Looking at the predicted path of Frances has me a little freaked out. It looks like there won't be a port in Florida that won't be touched... I understand that DCL cannot give us information that they just don't have yet, but the waiting game is frustrating!

We've not told my DD3 that things aren't looking so hot. She'll be so disappointed if we don't get to go this weekend. All she can talk about is the "Mickey Mouse Trip".

Oh well! Everytime I get to feeling sorry for myself or frustrated, I say a little prayer for the folks living in Florida, and thank God that my house is totally landlocked!

Turn Baby Turn!
Praying for :sunny:

This afternoon I was able to change our flight out of Syracuse NY to Orlando without penalty or fees (Jet Blue). We are now scheduled to arrive in Orlando at 10:40 am Sunday (hopefully MCO will be open to air traffic by then).

I was also able to change my Sat. night (9/4) at OKW to next Sat. (9/11) at the Boardwalk after we get back from the cruise.

When I spoke with the DCL CM she stated that there will be "no ports of call" on the 9/5 sailing of the Wonder. I would not speculate any other ports that we might stop. It looks like a cruise to nowhere as of now. I did read in another thread (unconfirmed) that DCL is giving a $300 room credit due to not being able to stop in Nausau and CC. If they are giving this credit it is something but not equal to having the ability to visit the normal stops.

Its not going to be what we were looking forward to on our first Disney Cruise.

All in all we should be thankful that we do not live in Central Fl and we should pray for those that do that all will be well after the hurricane.

I spend my day telling people to look at the positives and what do I do but ***** and moan. Thanks Princess for reminding me that some people will be "really" going through hell during the next 3 - 4 days. I guess if I want to pet a dolphin, I'll have to buy one at the toy store and take it with me. John

Well group....we have elected to reschedule our Disney Cruise for the same week next year. We signed up for a four day cruise to Bahamas and CC and anything less would be just that...LESS!

Sorry that we won't be able to meet up with you all. Maybe we'll see you next year!

If you are still going on the cruise we hope you have a great time and enjoy!

They have offered some compensation for 3-night cruise (instead of 4 - Wonder), no stops. Whats the cost if you cancel out? John

John,

You can cancel without penalty or reschedule like we did. If you stay on the cruise you will be sailing to nowhere (for only 3 days) but you will get a 30% refund, $100 credit to your stateroom, and a 25% discount on your next Disney Cruise.

We elected to just do it they way we wanted but next year.

Good Luck,

Well, we cancelled. With this thing slowing up it looks like it will be a mess to drive in on Monday.
Sue may have to work if it's an emergency situation, too any obstacles.
I'm very disappointed but now it's time to start concentrating on preparing for the storm.
I hope everyone has a grea time that is still going!!!

After speaking with our TA and reviewing our plans for cruising next year we decided to stay with our reservations on the cruie and take the 25% off next years 7 day cruise.

Sorry to see you not going CPM.

See you all on Monday (as long as MCO is open).

Thanks, have a WONDERful time.
If it were totally up to me I would have still went but my cruisemate really couldn't. Oh well.

We are traveling with others and, as there is no guarantee as to what tommorow will have in store for us, we have elected to sail and have fun. Our second cruise (we're opting for the 7 day at 25%off) can only be better. I just hope the captain doesnt travel in a "tight" circle. Maybe the Wonder and Magic could chase each other. - John

Hi,
I was on this cruise but have since cancelled. We were very sad to have to do it but can't see how the cruise will even get into the port Monday. I was told we HAD to make a decision on Friday by 6pm because after that the phone lines to DCL would be closed. I called Saturday at 9pm just to see what kind of message they had on the line and boy was I surprised to talk to a live person. He indicated that they would be taking calls all night. Anyone heard anything from Disney lately?
:earsboy: :earsgirl: pirate: princess:

I just got off the phone with DCL and was told that guests should call back after 8 pm EST. I was also told that the departure times have been "removed" from the current information.

Now we need to wait until 8 and see what they have decided.

If they cancel now I will be very dissapointed as they have been saying that they would sail (for the last 48 hours) when the other two cruise lines that sail from PC had cancelled two days ago.

I jumped through hoops today to get a flight into FL tomorrow. I now have to fly into FT. Myers and drive 250 miles to get to PC tomorrow.

After "hanging tight" for 3 days, they have cancelled the trip. I guess you could say they left us hanging. We were going to cancel but with the 25% off the next cruise we "hung" on. We have the insurance, now what? Now that they cancelled do they still offer the 25% or will they renig? Our relatives drove all the way from Kentucy to "hang out" with us. Frances will no longer be a name near and dear to my heart. Who knows when I will be able to get time off for another vacation. - John
I suppose since the trip is cancelled, this is the end of the thread

Well, I guess we can say we were on one of the few canceled DCL trips!
I have the worst luck with DCL. I was booked on the Maiden Voyage of the Magic and it was canceled a couple of times before we actually cruised, now this! LOL
I better think twice before booking one again. BTW, I'll let everyone know when I do book one so you don't book the same cruise as I do.

September 5, 2004 I was just curious as to who all that was booked on last year's Sept. 5 Wonder cruise actually cruised with us. We cruised on the Magic, instead of the Wonder, and left Tuesday, September 7, but got our 4-night cruise just the same. Disney bused us all to Ft. Lauderdale to catch the Magic, though, as PC was still closed. We sailed to Cozumel instead of Nassau, with 2 sea days, which was a GREAT switch for us because we love Cozumel. Now we are ready to cruise again on the 3-night on September 1. Wondering if the hurricanes will stay away this year.....time will tell!

We too were on the 4 night wonder with you last year that left on the 7th of sept aboard the magic. How concidental that we are also returning on the 3 night wonder leaving on the 1st of September again this year. I just hope that we don't have to deal with the same hurricane issues that we dealt with last year.

However, that is one of the reasons that we are returning so soon, just to take advantage of the discount pricing offered to us. We also want to experience Disney cruising as we had hoped it would be, without all of the last minute changes and chaos. Our kids were terribly disappointed that we didn't get to experience Castaway Cay. Last year was our first Disney cruise.
They are very much looking foward to Castaway Cay.

Counting down the days, only sixteen rings left on my daughter's ring chains!!!!!
