Labor Day weekend really crowded?

So we're currently booked to go 8/30-9/6 at the Poly. My DH thinks we should go 9/2-9/9 to avoid the Labor Day crowds. Is it really that much worse over Labor Day weekend? And from a check in stand point, would it be better to check in on Saturday (8/30) or Tuesday (9/2)? We're getting in mid-morning, and would like to get to our room sooner rather than later (although I realize there is never a guarantee on this since check in isn't until 3pm).

I have to book our airline tickets by tomorrow as this is when the sale ends.

The Tues after Labor Day and it was very nice. No crowds, we walked right on the rides. The weekend following though got very busy. It was very very hot too!!

When we were there last year, we checked in on the Saturday before Labor Day (we were there September 1 - 9). We checked into our resort in less than 10 minutes (we stayed at the Coronado as we will be doing again this year). We did not go to a park on Saturday so I can't tell you how the crowds were. We did go to the Magic Kingdom on Sunday afternoon (using the pool in the morning) (it was also extra evening hours). It was probably the most crowded day of the nine days we were there. We spent Monday, Labor Day, at Animal Kingdom, and we walked on every ride--including Expedition Everest three times BEFORE using our fast pass. We then went to Hollywood Studios and enjoyed quite a few rides with limited wait time.

We were there last year too from Sun, Sept 2 (got in, in the evening so didn't get to the parks) to Sept 11th and it was great. The crowds were low. We only bothered with Fast Passes for the 1st day or so but after that we didn't need them. Enjoy your trip.

we went during labor day weekend last yr. we were there aug. 26-9/2. it wasn't that bad but the weekends are always more crowded. the crowds did go away the days after labor day.

We were there last year 8/25 to 9/3. It was virtually empty (by WDW standards ) The most crowded was Sunday night but once EMH started it really emptied out. BTMRR was a WALK ON at 12:30pm on Labor Day. Don't worry- it's not crowded!

Arriving just after Labor Day is really the best. The crowds really disappear. Now that said, we are arriving on 8/30 since we just about always go over Labor Day weekend. It's not that bad considering it's a holiday weekend.

We were in WDW last year for Labor Day...didnt seem too bad..However, the Tuesday after Labor Day, Boy the BC/YC practically cleared out!

We had SAB almost to ourselves that morning, it was great! We agreed it was the best time to go...why we are now going in June I dont know! lol (oh.kids...school..etc)

Thanks for the responses thus far! Anyone else? I'm so torn on what to do! There's pros and cons to both days. I guess I could leave on Monday too, but that would be a little more $.

The Tuesday after LD in 2007, it was awesome! We/they nearly "walked on" (no wait) on every attraction during the day (it did get a bit more crowded in the evening).

LD, and before LD, it was packed! Fastpasses and/or waits were a must!

Thanks! Now I'm wondering if coming in on Monday (Labor Day) would be best.

Anyone have any experience checking in or out on Labor Day? Or just even what the airports are like?

I am also book during Labor Day, 8/27 - 9/3. I was told that the weekend gets crazy but the Tues it is quiet.

We are booked for 9/2-9/6. I'm looking forward to the low crowds. Never been during this time of year.

I would go Tuesday-Tuesday. It will be relatively un-crowded Labor Day weekend, so if that works better for your schedule, don't worry about the crowds. They will be even lighter after Labor Day, though, and it's usually cheaper to fly on weekdays.
