School starts tomorrow and I have purchased all of the supplies. Now I am marking them with DS's name. I have half a mind to put "LOST BY JOE JONES" on each item ;) .

Fortunately I bought extra while everything was on sale. :o

I agree!! :teeth:

Slightly off-track, but because of a thread I read here, I labeled everything, including all 16 of DD's crayons. But, when the teacher requested a deck of cards for each child, I'm sorry, I just marked the box. :rolleyes:

My girls label everything too. I have supplied too many children against my wishes at school.

We don't bother labeling here. Most schools around here (and my DD's preschool) put everything into the "pool" and use it as needed. All the glue sticks stay on the glue shelf...not in her cubby. Same with crayons, pencils, etc. They're all there for everyone to use....

Just gotta hope that all the other parents are contributing their fair share! I know we did on colored pencils! They had so many left over from last year that we don't have to buy them this year :)

anyone other than me NOT have to supply this day to day stuff?

I can't imagine !!!!

We supply $5.00 in change for a "math kit" but thats IT!!!! and I do mean IT!!!

They are in 2nd and 3rd grades....none of the grades in our district require parents to spend $$ on items necessary for school.

Do you ever wonder where your school property taxes are going??? It's certainly not for supplies!..

I do love this time of year though, I buy a ton of stuff at Staples right now, boxes of crayons, pencils, erasers etc... they last all school year of homework...

I'd go crazy labelling stuff....

I've been putting that off--DS has 24 crayons, 8 markers, 12 colored pencils and 12 pencils ("sharpened!") that all have to be individually labeled. School starts for him Monday. He's only 6 and writes his name so big it wouldn't fit on a pencil!

I don't label the crayon, markers, pens and stuff like that. I did put his name on compass, protractor, calculator, fancy file folder, notebooks and the like.

I labeled all of DD's things. I labeled 24 crayons, 20 colored pencils, 12 markers, 6 glue sticks, and a partridge in a pear tree!!!!!!:tongue: :tongue: What I did, instead of using sharpies, I printed out labels. Avery makes return address labels that are 1/2" x 1 3/4", which are perfect for labeling little items. They wrap around a pencil or crayon easily and don't cover up the whole thing. There are 80 per page, so I just printed out one page and I was done. DH thinks I'm nuts for labeling everything, but DD is VERY possessive of her things, and this way it won't get as lost as easily!!!!

I did too!!!::yes::

it all started the year DS had 8 boxes of crayons, 4 packs of markers, and 8 bottles of glue.
