With the parks being so large, what is the best way to label children in case they get lost? Of course, we'll have a pre-determined meeting place, but I thought it would bw good to have a parent's name & cell phone number on the kids' body as well. What is the best way? Also, what do you guys think is the best meeting place at each park in case they do get lost? :confused3

Thanks!

They have DOGTAG style tags that you can make in a few of the parks .They have them at MCO in the US store.

They are nice and the kids can keep them as a souvie as well .Characters on the front info on the back.

You can get a chain for them or safety pin them in their pocket or shoelace them.

The best thing to do for a lost kid is tell them to go into any store and to the CASHIER ( This is better then just any CM as this can get confusing) Tell them they're lost and could you call this number on my tag. They will do it and tell you where they are rather then trying to find each other.
Tell the kids to tell the CM's to leave a message incase you don't hear or are in a dead zone.

If your looking for a place to meet each park has a Guest services that you could meet at.They are on each map and a CM could direct all to them as well.

I would put Kids first name /your first& last name>cell number >and if room where you are staying .They will find the room number for you so you don't need to give that info.

I've been told you can get an actual dog tag printed at PetSmart or other chain pet store w/ all important info/numbers and then loop that into the kids' shoe laces. I'll probably write our cell phone number on each kid's arm in plain site, too.

My friend is a nurse so she got some of the wristbands from work, and I wrote our cell #s, also my hubby's (he was at home, but figured they could reach him if my phone was in a dead zone, and put hysterical child on w/ him), and where we were staying. For my then 2 yr. old, I put it on the strap of her tank top, she didn't want it on her wrist. The older kids wore them on their wrist or ankle.

The also knew to look for someone w/ an oval white name tag, (a CM), and if they didn't immediately see one, look for a mommy with kids.

Mine are 4 and 7, so I still rent a double stroller, and that helps keep track of them a lot of the time!

I'm buying my tags at PetSmart. I will attach the tags to pin trading lanyards and the kids will wear their lanyards everywhere they go. I can't really attach anything to their shoes because we wear Tevas and Crocs. There are no laces.

I like the dog tags because they do well in all weather and are sturdy.

I know this is serious but I am obviously in a silly mood. As I read this all I could picture is a Mom with a big black Sharpie writing her info across her child's head.

Last year for my then 1 and 3 year olds - I printed off the computer credit-card sized nametags with their names, dh and my name, cell phone #, hometown and resort where we stayed. I put Mickey and Minnie stickers on them, laminated them and then stuck a pin through the top to attach to their shirts. They were really cute and the kids liked them.

Some will tell you not to let the name of your child show to strangers - but at WDW, we say their names every 30 seconds (approximately :teeth: ) anyway - so it's definitely not a secret around us!

If you do try the laminating idea- be sure to round the edges - laminating corners can be sharp!

Our DS8 got lost at Blizzard Beach last week. I don't think a meeting place would have worked...he would have been too upset to just stand there waiting for us or vice-versa. We had not realized that he thought he was lost. We thought he was a little ahead of us in the lazy river. Well...next time he just rides the tubes with us!!

We told him that if he got lost, to find a CM & tell him/her. Well, that's what he did. It was a tense 15 or 20 minutes or so until we had him again. Ohhh!!!!

My DS is autistic and cannot communicate well so, of course, I wanted to have him "labled"! The problem was, he wouldn't tolerate a bracelet or "dog tag" necklace. My DH is a runner and he found an ad in back of one of his running magazines for a metal ID tag that runners can velcro to one of their shoes. We sent away for it and DS wears it everyday!

Sorry, its been a few years and I forgot the company name, but if you pick up any running magazine you can probably find ads for a similar product!

Good Luck!

I have one too! It's called RoadID. I love mine. The only drawback I can see about using that as id for your kids is that each one costs $20. You can definately use them over and over again and switch them b/w shoes very easily but I was thinking of using the dog tags for the kids b/c they're soooo much cheaper.

But--excellent suggestion b/c I love my RoadID. :) They also make little pockets that you can velcro to your laces. Big enough to hold a drivers license, key and some money.

We did tags, and lost them or forgot them. So we use a sharpie on their hand with a phone number. They were old enough to say "Dad's phone" by their first trip. This fullfills my need for a few things: cheap (I have sharpies), lazy (ordering dog tags means I have to move my backend to get dogtags ordered), can't forget (we remember things the first day, and the sharpie stays - we refreshen it every day, but if we do forget, its probably still there from yesterda), and does the job.

I hate to be the voice of doom, but your kids sake, I will be. It took less than five minutes for my children to be whisked away and assaulted, before I even knew to look for them! Dog tags & lanyards are too easy to remove for someone who wants to get away with your child. If you have taught your children to yell "This is not my mom!" or "This is not my dad!" (and if you haven't, you should!) then they will have no credibility when someone comes along and an intelligent predator simply threatens them quietly and lies to whichever adult comes forward to help your child. If, instead, your child has something to point to - say your name & # written with a sharpie on his foot or some other place under his clothes - that could save his innocence and his life. Now, do I do this? No. I keep my kids in arms reach at all times. It takes some doing, but I already have to live with the consequences of what happens when you lose them....Again, I hate to be the voice of doom, but I love children (even yours!) and I do so want them to be safe. It's a nasty world we live in & we're all crazy if we don't think pedophiles have figured out WDW is easy pickins.

I have used the "Who's Shoes" ID on my dd on 4 previous vacations (including 2 to WDW)....they didn't bother her at all, and they worked out very well..... I cannot yet post a link, but I see someone else has posted it above.

I did the same thing except all the contact info was on the back of the nametag. The front said their name in big letters and in small letters, "look here if I get lost". Cast members gave them lots of attention with their nametags on. My youngest one wore his on his back b/c he was always trying to take it off.

I am so sorry that you and your kids had to experience that. My heart breaks for you. I agree wholeheartedly that many are lulled into a false sense of security at WDW. I could never understand that. I mean- if you were someone that was interested in harming kids wouldn't that be the first place that you would go? Again- I am so sorry. princess:
