Our dilemma....6 kids...2 seven yr olds, 2 9 yr olds and 1 ten yr old, 1 fifteen..

Ten year old doesn't want to be by herself...would they allow her to go to the 8/9 group?

Talk to the lab supervisor when you go get the pagers. It's possible if you don't think that your 10 yo will be bored.

Sadly I think the rule that they go by is you child can go up one age group if their birthdate is within a month or so from the date you cruise but I don't think they will let your little one go down. But maybe due to the fact of yours wanting to be with other brothers and/or sisters- I don't know maybe they could but to be sure you should call DCL.
GOOD LUCK! and have fun!

We were on the May 7 Magic. My 3 yr old didn't like being without her 7 yr old sister. My 7 yr old liked the club better than the lab as well. They let them stay together in the club. I'm sure if my 7 year old had been "rough" around the younger kids the wouldn't have allowed it. But she wasn't, so it wasn't a problem. But they really weren't in the club all that much - they wanted to spend all their time at the pool. My advice is it doesn't hurt to ask - they really try to be accommodating. :)

We cruised last week on the Magic with a 9, 10, and 11 year old. The nine year old just turned 9 last month, but they let him move up with the other two. Just ask, they may let your 9 yr olds move up too.

This was our experience too. They let my 5 yr old stay with his brother in the 3/4's group. I told them he was a very gentle child who was used to helping the younger ones. They allowed it. The activities in the 5-7's would probably have been more enjoyable but it was more important for them to be together.

I've purposely scheduled our next cruise when they are 5 and 7 so there will no need to switch one of them to a different group. If I had waited two weeks later, they would have been 6 and 8 and it would have been an issue again.

We were able to move my older son "down" to be with his brother. No problems at all. Talk to the counselor. They are very helpful.

Last fall we moved my 10 y.o. grandson down to the 8/9 group so he could be with his cousin ... wasn't a problem at all.

she will not be byherself she will meet other people

Actually, they are a lot more flexible about allowing a child to move down than they are about moving up. It usually isn't a problem at all. Your 10 year old needs to realize that the 10-12s are in the same main area (Lab) as the 8-9s, although they are in different groups. Unless the 8-9 group is totally full, it will be no problem at all to allow the 10 year old to be with the younger sib.

Just talk with the lab counsellor after you board.

They should let you with out much of a problems. It might be on a trial basis until they can see the older child will not have any problems.

I completely understand them wanting to be in the same group. They are probably friends or family traveling together on the cruise. Why go to the club if they wont see each other...the purpose of the cruise. I know that our next cruise will be easier for us because both of our kids & our friends' DD will be in the same age group. DS liked the club but wanted to spend time with his friend too so they didn't spend much time in the clubs at all.
