La Rentrée is the whole end of summer thing here

End of the summer holidays, back to school, no more long lazy days as everybody is stressed out again and les Parisiens have come back etc etc

It's also synonym of huge traffic tail backs as people criss cross the country on their way back home - traffic jams all combined were at 330 km at 12pm on Sat :rotfl:and the worst day was 750 km for the 4th of August :scared1:

But I have never and did never expect to see this at DLP at 10.30 on a Sunday morning in September

All 10 rows were open and full and it took us 15 minutes to go through

Once through the cars were already backed up to the start of the moving walkways ... again a first at that time on a morning

002-6.jpg

and they had started by parking them on the other side were it's normally all coaches and camping cars

So we ended up being right the way over there somewhere on the far right

Once through that lot and 15 minutes walk later we discover that it's all change again security wise :sad2:

The entrance at Disney Village has now been closed

003-8.jpg

So you now have to go in the one they have opened parallel to the Studios and cut back round past everything

005-5.jpg

as the former entrance that is now an exit still refuses to let people through even though it still says Welcome on it :rolleyes1 Saw many people arguing with the security about this

004-10.jpg

Once through all this ....another 10 minutes, makes the metro at rush hour seem fun....get to EoS and thankfully no one so coffee time

008-5.jpg

You can see one of the Village security check points up there coming in from the HNY end ..it's that hideous green plastic tent

And here's the other at the end of the bridge from Eos/McDo going towards Newport Bay

At least some people had the right idea and got away from the crowds ;)

007-4.jpg

We went into the park and wandered about

Crowd times were as follows at 12.00

IJ - 20
POTC - 20
BTM -80
PM - 20
IASW -20
PP -40
Dumbo - 50
ST -50
SM2 - 35
Buzz - 50

Fast passes on BTM at 12.05 were for between 14.35 -15.05 with a queue of 50/60 long

On PP at 12.15 they were for 17.25 - 17.55 again with a queue way way back :scared:

The Rapunzel meet and greet had at least 50 families in the line so a long wait ahead. :crowded:

Off we went to Agrabah for lunch :beach:

Wow. We went for a last minute trip last week, Monday to Friday. We must have visited DLP about 8/9 times but I have never seen it as busy as it was last week, not even at Christmas! We had to resort to Florida style touring and left the parks in the afternoon for a bit of respite and a swim.

Strangely, it wasn't the length of queues that bothered me, but the fact I couldn't mooch about the parks soaking up the atmosphere without being pushed about :( Thankfully, being there for five days meant we managed to get enough magic to keep me going :)

Hope you had a good time. I love Agrabah...

Carrie, I wonder if you can help, I'm totally confused about what they have done with this new fencing outside the village and parks.
What way would we have to walk to get to the parks? Am I right in thinking that area outside the village where those annoying sellers usually are, is that not a direct path to the park from the village?

Are the green tents permanent? Is it to check bags going into village?

Did you not see my other thread on these security changes ?

When you come from your hotel you walk through the Village past the cinema and the new WOD and you come first to the Studios entrance or just keep going round to the main park entrance.

All behind the railings so you don't have to see any of the sellers if you don't want to :goodvibes

Yes they check bags going into the Village now from the hotel end as well as going into the park :sad2:

That's what gets to me but we are lucky as that we can go back another day this week and it will be all nice and calm again :thumbsup2 I'm glad that you are restocked in magic :goodvibes

Hope you had a good time. I love Agrabah...

We did thank you, I even took a few pictures for the restaurant review thread this time :cutie:

So will we be able to buy alcohol in the shop at the station and take it back to our room at hotel new york?

Yes we were travelling to Calais from the Loire on Saturday, roads were crazy with delays at eurotunnel and the ferries. Will try to avoid that weekend next time, wondered why it was so busy.!

And as you can see it was a quiet one compared to the start of the month ;)

France on certain weekends in July/August looks very much like the migration of gnu in the Serengeti made worse by the fact they are going in all directions :rotfl:

You'll have to get the shuttle bus back to your hotel as you can't take alchool in through the security checks, they will refuse it if it shows up on the screening :)
