Will you have a rental car? I wouldn't rely on the hotel's shuttle, very limited. The hotel gets decent reviews for a lower priced property. I think the hotel has a small "resort" fee. The hotel is usually pretty inexpensive, it frequently comes up on Priceline for next to nothing. Make sure you're not over paying.

We'll be staying there this June so I'll report back early July once we're back in the UK - that'll give you chance to change your plans if it's awful and give you something extra to look forward to if it's great. :)

I stayed there last year. Had no problems with it. The location is very convenient to the parks especially if you use the back way on Sherbeth Rd. All the rooms had fridges, iron, coffee maker and daily paper. I stayed in the back on the second floor (as I requested) and it was very quiet.

We stayed here March 2004. I got the room off of Hotwire for $19 a night. I had no problems with it. Not the nicest place that we have stayed at but clean. The only issue that we had was I booked it for Friday night, because I knew that we would arrive about 6 am after driving all night on Saturday morning. And we wanted to be able to get into our room. Since you pay upfront with Hotwire, I figured that I had paid for the room, so it should sit empty if we weren't in it. Well we arrived Saturday morning, only to find that they had given our room to someone else. Essentially double dipping. So even though we had paid for the night, we had to wait till 4 to check in. Try dealing with a 5,2, and 1 year old with no sleep. And the manager was pretty rude about the whole thing. But the rooms were clean and the pool was decent (pretty good size).

We stayed Thanksgiving 2004. Nice place to lay your head and convenient to parks. Walgreens Pharmacy located off the same street as hotel. Nice grocery store less than a 1/4 mile away. We used the Pizza Hut late at night. The quiet pool was nice. I think building 8 is what we stayed in.

omg. mickeylovesmickey.. that is awful!!!!

We stayed there many years ago and personally it wasnt for me..
but i expect it has changed since and been refurbished. It wasnt great in 97!

if you are going to show up late - past 7pm - I learned the hard way - call ahead - so the resort doesn't think you are 'no show' - because then they will definitely rent your room.

we stayed there the first couple of months it went from a Sheraton to the LaQuinita got a nice rate - not as nice as $19 - I need to start looking at hotwire - but $22.

for $22 it was GREAT - now if I had paid $79 to $59 - I might not have liked it.

I stayed there because Spicey could stay in the room with us.

bit worried now!i am staying there next year but we don't fly in from Uk until 7pm.Do you think i should email them the day before to let them know we are checking in late? :confused3

I would!

from the airport - it might be as late as 8 to 9 before you can check in - so make sure they hold your room.

Now you've got me scared. We're staying one night there when we arrive in Kissimmee. So far, I've never had a problem with Priceline & arriving late. I think thats horrible that they rented out a room you had already paid for. Did you complain to Hotwire? We're going to get there between 7-8pm. I've never felt the need to "confirm" a Priceline room before but I'm kind of nervous now. I can't count how many times we've gotten to our room at 11 pm or so - after a full day at the parks.

We flew into Orlando at 10:30 pm. It was after midnight when we arrived at the hotel. I called the day before, and they assured me it would be available. I still worried, but it wasn't a problem when we arrived. Our room was ready and we hit the sack fast.

hotels and timeshare get several 'no shows' if you don't tell the front desk you will be late - then they assume you are a 'no show' - it is common practice then to rerent the room.

just call, email or fax the resort and tell them your estimated time of arrival.

then they 'know' you are coming and you will get a room.

even when I use skyauction if I have to leave here late and so my arrival time there will be late - I always call.

some places only have certain hours for check-in - so you need to make them aware that you aren't arriving during their check in time. In some cases they will leave your key with the security guard and you just check in the next morning.

lots of hotels and timeshare in the Orlando area have 24 hours check in times - but some don't.

I did complain to Hotwire and was told that it is common practice. (as others have said on this site) We travel a lot but have never had a problem before. We used Priceline this past March. We were arriving late again. (about 2 am) We called twice to make sure that our room would be there. Both times we were assured that it was already paid for and would be there no matter what. So I just wonder if it is common practice for a room that is only held, not yet paid for. Anyway, I learned my lesson. I now call before we are going to arrive late.

Could have been worse. If you don't checkin for the first night the hotel can cancel the rest of your PL reservation.

If you're going to be late it's always a good idea to call no matter what. Some guests go so far as to check in over the phone.

feeling slightly less worried now.We already payed for our room via travel city direct so they can't double rent a room already payed for can they? :confused3 Still gonna email though-just to be sure!!! :teeth:

Just got back and La Quinta Inn (now Best Western) was fine.

Rooms were clean and tidy. There wasn't any of the traffic noise that we'd heard bad reports about so not sure where those reports came from.

Parking was excellent, it's always nice being able to park right outside your room when you've got suitcases etc.

The free shuttle to the parks was limited to a few runs in the morning and again in the evening but was always punctual. We did make use of it a few times so that I could have a drink without worrying about driving back.

We're not normally into fast food but having a Pizza Hut inside the hotel was very handy on the odd occassion we were too tired to go out in the evening.

As you booked through Virgin, don't forget to get your free meals voucher for Hard Rock Cafe - we made the mistake of getting a starter as well and struggled to eat it all as it was surprisingly good food. :)

The only minor niggles; 1) both the restaurant and cafe in the hotel automatically added the gratuity to the bill but then left another line marked "tip" for you to fill in - I thought this was underhand and as a result we didn't eat in either again after the first day. 2) the aircon in the room was a little too noisy.

All in all we had a great holiday even if the weather wasn't always on our side.

Hope this helps,
