LA, New Orleans RnR Marathon and Half 02-28-2010

Very interesting....Jim and I are in corral 23, and my DS Doug, with the same estimated finish time as us, and doing his very first half marathon is in corral 1! That will definitely be a bib to save!

And, I can't find my DDIL in their system.....hmmm, I registered them at an expo and I wonder if my handwriting was misread.

Is he accidently registered for the full with that? If everything is right that's really weird.

I'm excited with corral 2 considering how big a race and I'm shooting for a sub-1:40 half.

Fifteen day forecast watch has started

Whew - heard back from Elite....they had DS and DDIL down for the full instead of the half. It's been corrected and they will be reassigned corrals.

I have been checking out accuweather, and of course it keeps bouncing around from the 30's to the 70's!

That tour looks really cool. Wish I was going to be there on Friday to enjoy it but I don't get there till Saturday. Looking forward to hearing about it though.

had a blast at the race, beautiful weather! ran a 2:28:07 which is a PR for me. I was pleased! The race party was fun, plenty of food, transportation was grea,t very well organized. I will post a full race report on my blog tonight (in my siggy) so check it out tonight!

I think it was a well-run event. We had a blast with the WISH Team members we were able to find. Took it easy an enjoyed the sights. Perfect weather, good food at the end. Transportation back to the hotel district was perfect for me. I felt bad for the guy I sat on the bus with since he was parked at the Superdome and they drove right through there and did not stop.

We had a fantastic couple of days playing with WISH Team members walking around Bourbon Street, dining, having beniets at Cafe au Lait at Cafe du Monde--real team bonding time.

I agree with everyone a great race. I was in corrall 2 and it seemed like we were all using the half as a tune up race. I finished in 1:47 which is not a PR but I ran it comfortably hard to practice pacing for my full rather than all out for a PR. I met some great people and loved the city. I signed up for next year at the expo and we're probably going to make it a family event as my parents are thinking about walking the half next year.

weird! our bus stopped under the dome area and we told the driver to stop b/c there was a lady who needed to get off, then he proceeded to st. charles and dropped everyone else off.

Great race report and pics. Looks like the weather was perfect! All those pics have me missing NOLA; I hope to make it there this October for the Jazz Half!

This was definitely a good race. Couldn't have been better run I think, especially for an inaugural race. You can definitely tell they took advantage of the expirience of the New Orleans races and Elite to make it all it could be. I got a glance of the WISH shirts when standing at the start and was worried I wouldn't get to see everyone, but thankfully I spotted everyone at the finish line and got to introduce myself. Was so nice to get some more faces to go with names. :D
