Anyone eaten ther lately? Thinking of trying it in hopes of getting a table to watch Illuminations. If the reviews are not good may just do a CS while staking out a spot near the exit.

We ate there last year and really enjoyed it. I always say you should try it and make up your own mind.

I hear the food is pretty good. But, I'm not a big fan of trying to get a "fireworks ADR". They always strike me as more hassle than just staking out a decent spot along the lagoon, because people tend to jockey for space, hold tables well after they are done eating, and give you the hairy eyeball if *you* are doing the same.

We are trying it next week, from my understanding everyone tries to get a table with a firework view but they wont let you wait on a table, its luck of the draw and there arent a whole lot of tables infront of the window from my understanding>>

I've eaten here twice now but never during Illuminations. My DH and I love the food and margaritas!

I have also heard that the view of IllumiNations from La Hacienda is not really all that good and not worth trying to set your ADR so that you can watch from there. We are trying it for the first time in October and we took a 6:30 ADR so that we will have enough time to get a spot (and probably dessert and a drink from a F&W kiosk while waiting).

Ate there last week.

Food is fantastic and it's one we would go back to for sure and would highly recommend. It's authentic Mexican - not the Americanized Mexican you see all around us, so don't go in expecting tacos and burritos.

Illuminations: they pipe the sound in to the restaurant - this is cool. The viewing is not so great though, and while I thought a fireworks ADR sounded great, I have to say that I'd rather be outside. The show really takes place all around the lagoon and not in one place, so even with a window seat it's not as great as you'd think.

We were there the end of May and the food was pretty good. For Illuminations it is hit or miss. I have pictures here in our trip report so you can see the limited window viewing and the food if you like.

Going for the food - Go. Going for Illuminations - I would say no.

Hope this helps some. :)

I was also there in May, and was highly impressed with the food there. I was pessimistic when I saw the menu, but the execution was superb.

We just ate here last week as well. When we walked up to the podium to check in and asked for a seat to view Illuminations, we were basically told that they wouldn't accomodate any requests to view the show. We could only see a small portion of the fireworks but they do pipe the music in. The food was very good. We ordered a few different appetizers, but once our dinner came, I was too full to share the La Hacienda with my husband. We would definitely try it again.

NOTE: A limited menu eatery, and although Americanized,
it is surprisingly more authentic than San Angel. However, it
does not have the ambience of San Angel. If you are lucky,
you might snag a window seat for Illuminations. The negative
is the high price (eg. $23 shrimp/tortillas, $26 flank steak).

koolaidmoms, thanks for the review. :) The desserts look great. I wish we could order off that menu & enjoy the atmosphere at SAI. SAI's menu doesn't look nearly as interesting, esp. the desserts. Since dessert is my course of choice, I always check that part of the menu first.

Dessert and appetizers are usually my focus! :)

was there on the 24th and found it to be excellent. The mixed grill was superb. The queso fundido was average thou. The deserts rocked as did the tequila

We ate there last week and the food was sooooo good.

Thanks for all the reviews, we may just play this one by ear. The food sounds good and i would like to try it, I have the ADR. We will be munching our way at the FWF for lunch, not sure how hungry we will be after that. Maybe just grab an app and the yummy desserts! Tell the kids it dessert for dinner that night and I will win Mommy of the Year award!
