I will in the World in Aug with my wife, two boys (11,9), sister and my 78 year old father. We would like to try La Hacienda but my father does not like spicy food. A hamburger is generally his meal of choice. Is there anything on the menu that is on the tame side for a not very adventurous eater.

It is really impossible to answer this because no one can project what your father considers "spicy". Way too subjective. That said, this is Disney. None of the dishes presents as a "Man vs. Food" challenge, or an episode of "Fear Factor". Ask your server for help and if necessary ask him/her to work with the kitchen to "tone it down". Won't be the first time this will be requested.

Have you read the menu at allearsnet.com?

If he is more of a bland eater, you may be able to put in a dietary request. I don't recall the phone number to do that, but that might be an option.

I know there are grilled meats for two on the menu (we're planning to dine there in March). I don't know if it's spicy but they could theoretically tone down the spices. There is a single person steak too. The sides may be weird for him, but he probably could ask about substitutions. There's also the kids menu. See here for the full menu: http://allears.net/menu/menu_haci.htm

FYI, when you make an online reservation, there is an email address they give you regarding dietary issues. You could also email them and ask what they can do.

I would try calling and asking if they can alter any of the entrees. My mother in-law and daughter split Del Mar - mixed grill offering mahi mahi, shrimp, scallops and vegetables, served with beans and fresh salsa $49.95. It was incredibly spicy even though I normally like spicy mexican food. My father in-law didn't like his dish very much because of the spices as well. My son tried to order from the kids menu (he was 14) and they gave him a hard time. The server was sweet, but we probably would never go back there.

We love spicy foods but this place was beyond spicy! We ate there in Nov and it was horrible...SAI is much better!

They are not a WDW owned restaurant so they are not known for being as accomodating as the WDW owned restaurants. They do have tacos on their app menu which without the salsas would probably be mild enough for him if he eats tacos. They also have a fried shrimp taco on the entree menu which again without the sauces might be tolerable for him if he would like fried shrimp with flour tortillas. Perhaps having a QS meal there would be a good compromise?

I found the food there to be very flavorful/spicy. My sister thought she would be safe with the chicken dish and that turned out to be the spiciest of all the meats.

We loved our food there and did not think it was spicey at all. We got the flank steak and it was wonderful.. also 2 of our kiddos got the shrimp tacos and they were not spicey. You could always ask to order off the kids menu.

We loved this meal so much, it was our favorite on our trip in November, so much so we are repeating this one in May!
