So are the empanadas at La Cantina any good? I'm trying to make my Epcot plan work and to avoid adding to an already ridiculous amount of backtracking, it would be easiest (and desirable) to eat lunch in WS. The problem is that most of the QS places are very limited on kids options and 2 of my 3 are picky eaters at their current ages. I think they'll eat either the chicken fingers or the empanadas and I would like to try the empanadas too. And it would be nice and close to FEA which is the point of being in WS at lunchtime. But if they're no good, inedible, etc then I'll plan to have us backtracking to Sunshine Seasons.

I'm also interested in reviews of La Cantina, looks like we'll be there around dinner time our first night. I don't want to make an adr that evening in case of a flight delay. My usual favorite counter service locations are all on the other side of the park but timing wise it doesn't really work out. I worked the whole evening around our FEA FP. o_O

I'm sure they are bland and relatively tasteless. I've eaten the food a couple of times and won't go back.

We’ve eaten there 2 or 3 times and liked it. I’ve had the nachos and I think DH has had the beef tacos. The portion sizes are large.

I have had them and they were very good... My son also had them once and enjoyed them. Be aware these are NOT Tex-Mex versions if that is what you are looking for than do not eat here... they are small, cheese filled no meat, not soaked in oil and not overly seasoned aka Bland. I though it was by far one of the better CS meals I have had. If you are looking for more traditional American food AKA burgers fries, hot dogs, chicken nuggets eat at the America in Epcot.

Hmm. The only time I’ve had empanadas they were home made by a woman with Latin American heritage but American born. I was in New Mexico at the time. I don’t know if they were a Tex Mex recipe or a more traditional one. No meat but they were definitely cooked in oil and crispy. Bland will be perfect for my kids. I’m open to trying new things so if they’re more authentic all the better even if it means less spice than I’m use to. I’m definitely not looking for American. I’m looking for a place with non American food that have kid options that work for my picky ones. :rotfl2:

Both of my kids and I love the empanadas! They are pretty basic, filled I think with chihuahua cheese (mild, similar to mozzarella). The kids version comes with 2 plus nacho chips and cheese dip, grapes, and a drink. The empanadas are good dipped in the cheese dip as well. We ate them several times on our last trip but mostly opted for the adult version because they come with 3, plus are topped with queso fresco, salsa Verde, and Mexican creme (although we ordered without the creme). The toppings help to give it more flavor and make them less dry. We were also able to sub the Mexican slaw with the adult meal for chips (although cheese dip was extra). I feel the empanadas are a great way to get picky kids to eat something a little different.

Although I don't eat meat, the rest of the family loved the beef tacos and the nachos.

My kids loved their empanadas. I was happy with my tacos, and my wife enjoyed her salad. For everyone to walk away happy from a QS was a huge win!
