Has anyone ever rented a car from L&M car rental? They were mentioned in the UG and their price for a weekly rental is much less expensive. But I was wondering if anyone had any personal experience? Or should I stick with one of the more familiar (yet also more expensive) companies? Thanks for any input!!

We rented from them last August because we didn't want to stand and wait in the Alamo line for three hours. I went right over...they gave me the same price as Alamo and we were off to start our vacation. Drop off is just as easy. They were very nice!

No pressure for insurance, no line, and the price was right. Nice, new cars too!

OK, I will be the voice of dissention. We used them over Xmas 2004. They were rude, did both contracts wrong (we rented 2 cars), and just horrible. We split our reservations into 2 to save money since we were down there for over 10 days. We brought back the cars, cancelled the second reservations and went to dollar, and they were great.

DOllar has rates for Aug for 12.99, 14.99 & 16.99/day for a compact, int and full. Use code KISS2.

We will never use L&M again.

I used them in may. cheaper and no problems you MUST have your ins ID or you will have to pay ins. they asked to see it and was told by other people they asked

I used L&M quite a few times and have never had a problem.
This past July (3rd-11th) I couldn't find a car for less than $300 from all the major car rental places. I found a budget car from Thrifty off property for $139 for the 9 days I was there. I wasn't happy about an off airport car and I needed a larger car for our ECV but the larger cars were over $300. So I figured we would have to take the ECV apart and put it in the trunk and back seat.
I took the Thrifty booking to L&M and asked if they would match the price. They matched it and for $10 more per day I got an upgrade of a 2005 Mitsubshi Endevor with 6 miles on it when we drove it out the lot.
We couldn't figure out how to turn on the light for the shifter so I told them when I returned the car and they gave me a credit for $50 for my trouble. It wasn't any trouble but who am I to complain about a credit.
I wound up paying $169 for a Mitshubishi Endevor SUV for 9 days.
Get a quote from another place and ask L&M to match it. I have never had a problem and they always match the price and offer an upgrade.
I have never shown them my insurance policy either and they have never made me take their insurance. Peggie

I have used L&M over 8 times in the last few years. I have never had a problem with them. But they don't always honor quotes.
I had a quote from alamo with an entertainment coupon with discount and free additional driver (not a spouse) and a great price for a 9 day rental. When I first presented the quote to them they agreed. But then they realized it was for 9 days instead of a week, and I had a free second driver, so after 10 minutes at the desk they said they couldn't do it. No problem, I just headed over to alamo and got the car there, no hard feelings. I wasn't in a hurry but I thought I would try. I will still use L&M if they have the best price.

Thanks Deltachi8 - great info. You've inspired me to look at L&M...

Does anyone have a discount code to use for them?? I looked (quickly) on Mousesavers, but didn't see any.

Thanks,
Mrs. PB

I've used L&M a couple of times and had no problems at all. No pressure to buy extra insurance and they never asked for my insurance papers.

We've used L& M twice and my parents used them twice as well. We've both had very good luck with them, nice new cars (Nissans). We saved versus going with the big name car companies. Yes, we provided them with a copy of our insurance card, not a big deal.

Thanks everyone for all of your input; I appreciate it! We will definitely stick with L&M. Now I can start working on the itinerary!! :sunny:

I tried to use them a few years ago. It was President's Day week. I had a full size reserved. They tried to give me a Corrolla. When I asked if that was a full size I was told "It is this week" That and the insurance card issue. I use a Diners Club. Diners Club is primary and I should not have to give anyone my insurance card. The guy insisted he was going to charge me... I walked and went to Hertz. Never again!

I'm glad to hear that most of the reviews for L&M are positive. We are ready to rent our 4th car from them in so many years and have never (knock on wood) had a problem. :hyper:

BUT...

I still make a reservation at another on-site dealer (usually Avis) just in case I have any of the problems mentioned in the dissenting posts. :crazy2:

I remember reading lots of bad reviews of L & M, which kept us from trying them for several years. About a year back, they were the only ones with a reasonable price, so we gave them a shot and they were great...same thing on subsequent rentals. I wonder if they realized their bad reputation was causing them a lot of business and mended their ways.

I am thinking of renting from them in Sept :confused3 . I have been reading mix reviews, but right now for our dates they are have a midsize for a total of 133.11. Which is the best price I can get and I also like the fact that they are located in the terminal. ;)
