Kylie's car. My oldest daughter got her first car yesterday. It orginally belonged to her fraternal Grandmother. Mom was diagnosed last year at age 84 with vascular dementia. The doctor told her she shouldn't drive anymore, but it took a while to really convinced her. She has always been incredibly independant and more than a little stubborn.

Finally she relented and agreed that she really shouldn't be out there driving anymore and decided that she wanted to give her car to Kylie. Kylie is her only grandchild of driving age who didn't have a car yet.
We paid to have it transported from Erie, PA to here in (Dallas area) Texas. After putting four new tires on it - having it aligned, inspected and new wiper blades we felt it was safe for her to drive. The car is a 2002 Buick Century with only 38,000 miles on it.

After driving it around for herself for a while yesterday, she allowed her younger sister Emily to drive it in the high school parking lot. Emily is old enough and ready to take drivers training and then get her permit. After that she can get her own license in May when she turns 16.

All in all Kylie is very happy with the car - but she has a tendency to be a bit of a timid driver. Hopefully having her own wheels and getting out there more will increase her confidence.
As Kylie says - "Grandma - you rock"!
