You do not receive a free lanyard until your second cruise, when you're an official Castaway Club Member.
You can purchase those lanyards you posted at the gift shop onboard.

These are the ones we got on one of the 2nd or 3rd cruises we took. It's been many years since we've been so I don't know what they are now, but I will be taking this with me in November.

on your second cruise (or more) you get a coloured lanyard based on your castaway level and it has a plastic pouch. the one you pictured is in the shops for purchase

It is nice to have a new lanyard but they can start to accumulate. I just started following the boards recently and read on another thread that you can decline the lanyard. (Should you have a special one, some to bring or just do not want your closet to look like the photo below.)

I bring mine home and put the pins I purchased for that cruise on it and hang it on the back of my bedroom door. It makes a great souvenir.

Good idea!!! Have a ton of lanyards and pins. The pins are sitting the various shopping bags from onboard. I should display them in the lanyards!!!

I know some people like the lanyard you posted better than the free ones because they say it is more comfortable.

I also ended up making lanyards for myself and hubby since I want to match outfits (yea I’m that person) lol. Super simple: webbing from the craft store, cute ribbon and the lanyard keychain things from amazon.

As others have said you get a different lanyard starting on your second cruise. We don't use those lanyards though.

We prefer the lanyard you linked to. They sell them on the ship or you can buy it via the Disney Store online. It holds more and I find it more comfortable.

If you’re a dvc member you can get your lanyard from the dvc cm at the terminal or at the dvc desk on the ship. First timers too.

Yep! And in the past, it was a more comfortable ribbon that made the lanyard IMO. But I can't wait to finally get my Platinum lanyard in early September on the Fantasy! Woohoo!
