I'm Kristin and I'm very, very excited that I've decided to make my wedding a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding.
I'm sure all brides say this about their DF (or why would we agree to marry them right
) but he is the sweetest, most caring, cutest, geekiest (yes that is something I look for in a guy) guy in the world. Here we are:
The story of us started 8 years ago when we were still in high school. It was the beginnig of my senior year and Steve's junior year. We started dating after I asked him to be my date to the Prom. From that day on we were inseperable. I knew he was the one when we decided to watch a movie together at his house after our first date (which was a double date with a mutual friend who was trying to fix us up all school year long). I went up to his room to pick out a movie and he owned all my favorite movies!
We watched The Goonies together and it was love at firist Corey Feldman movie!!
2 years into our relationship, I was diagnosised with Rhumatoid Arthritis. He didn't even blink. Some guys might run for the hills, not want to be tied down with a "sick" girl at the young at of 20. He has stood by me, taken care of me. "In sickness and in health" is one vow that really means alot. Most recently he stayed in the hospital with me and helped take care of me after major surgery to have a cystic mass removed from my ovary.
Now on to the Proposal. We've basically been engaged for a few years. All of our friends and family pretty much assume we would get married eventually. I always told him I didn't need a fancy ring to say we're engaged. Last year we moved in together. Steve wanted to get married but wanted to wait until he had a job making more money. He's changed his major twice and is still in school, he's almost done. He currently works at Borders Bookstore. I got a "Big Girl" job building online courses for Rasmussen College, last summer making a good amount. As luck would have it, the apartment building my parents own had a opening and they offered it to us. I think this proved to him that we can finally survive on our own.
Since we knew I was going to be out of commission for Valentines day we decided to go out to our favorite restaurant for dinner the weekend before my surgery. The morning of our dinner I got really sick after a pretty nasty test at the hospital and I didn't want to leave the house. This was after the huge snow storm hit the Midwest, we're from the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He kept saying he had to go to his mom's house to help shovle. I sat home and caught up on some Dexter. He walked in a few hours later with a dozen gerber daisies (my favorite flowers). I got up to help him with the flowers. He put them on the kitchen table, then proceeded to get down on one knee and propose. I was so caught off guard that I just started sobbing. I eventually choked out a yes and just held him. I was so happy.
Here is the Ring:
It's actually my Great-Grandmothers ring that my Mom gave to Steve to use.
He had a bunch of awesome plans. We were suppose to go on vacation to Disney for our anniversary next month and he planned on proposing to me there. But due to my surgery, we had to push the trip back.
The reason I've always wanted a Disney wedding since I was a little girl. I read Lurkyloo's Wedding TR and instantly feel in love with the DFTW. Then I looked at the different packages and discovered I could actually afford an Escape Wedding. I know we just got engaged, but our families are not rich and I just want to know how much I need to save.
So come and see what's cooking for Kristin and Steve Happily Ever After.
