I'm Kristin and I'm very, very excited that I've decided to make my wedding a Disney Fairy Tale Wedding.

I'm sure all brides say this about their DF (or why would we agree to marry them right ) but he is the sweetest, most caring, cutest, geekiest (yes that is something I look for in a guy) guy in the world. Here we are:

The story of us started 8 years ago when we were still in high school. It was the beginnig of my senior year and Steve's junior year. We started dating after I asked him to be my date to the Prom. From that day on we were inseperable. I knew he was the one when we decided to watch a movie together at his house after our first date (which was a double date with a mutual friend who was trying to fix us up all school year long). I went up to his room to pick out a movie and he owned all my favorite movies! We watched The Goonies together and it was love at firist Corey Feldman movie!!

2 years into our relationship, I was diagnosised with Rhumatoid Arthritis. He didn't even blink. Some guys might run for the hills, not want to be tied down with a "sick" girl at the young at of 20. He has stood by me, taken care of me. "In sickness and in health" is one vow that really means alot. Most recently he stayed in the hospital with me and helped take care of me after major surgery to have a cystic mass removed from my ovary.

Now on to the Proposal. We've basically been engaged for a few years. All of our friends and family pretty much assume we would get married eventually. I always told him I didn't need a fancy ring to say we're engaged. Last year we moved in together. Steve wanted to get married but wanted to wait until he had a job making more money. He's changed his major twice and is still in school, he's almost done. He currently works at Borders Bookstore. I got a "Big Girl" job building online courses for Rasmussen College, last summer making a good amount. As luck would have it, the apartment building my parents own had a opening and they offered it to us. I think this proved to him that we can finally survive on our own.

Since we knew I was going to be out of commission for Valentines day we decided to go out to our favorite restaurant for dinner the weekend before my surgery. The morning of our dinner I got really sick after a pretty nasty test at the hospital and I didn't want to leave the house. This was after the huge snow storm hit the Midwest, we're from the southwest suburbs of Chicago. He kept saying he had to go to his mom's house to help shovle. I sat home and caught up on some Dexter. He walked in a few hours later with a dozen gerber daisies (my favorite flowers). I got up to help him with the flowers. He put them on the kitchen table, then proceeded to get down on one knee and propose. I was so caught off guard that I just started sobbing. I eventually choked out a yes and just held him. I was so happy.

Here is the Ring:

It's actually my Great-Grandmothers ring that my Mom gave to Steve to use.

He had a bunch of awesome plans. We were suppose to go on vacation to Disney for our anniversary next month and he planned on proposing to me there. But due to my surgery, we had to push the trip back.

The reason I've always wanted a Disney wedding since I was a little girl. I read Lurkyloo's Wedding TR and instantly feel in love with the DFTW. Then I looked at the different packages and discovered I could actually afford an Escape Wedding. I know we just got engaged, but our families are not rich and I just want to know how much I need to save.

So come and see what's cooking for Kristin and Steve Happily Ever After.

Congrats and welcome from another 2012 bride!!!!

Can't wait to hear more!!! Your story is so cute!!!!

Xxxx

Aww...what a cute story!!! Welcome! The way you both started dating is similar to my story. I was a senior and DF was a junior and I asked him to our music formal unofficially (he basically disregarded my proposal and asked me to go, lol!) We were engaged 2 years before we started planning. Anywho, congratz to you and your DF and I can't wait to hear more of your plans!

Congratulations on your engagement from another October 2012 bride to be!! Have you had any ideas yet? Look forward to following your plans!x

That is a really sweet story and such a cute proposal. Applause to him for loving everything about you and sticking by your side. :goodvibes

Awww your story is similar to ours. I'll have to check out your PJ too!!

Thank you everyone for the Welcome and Well Wishes!! I plan on reading all your PJ's.

Fall is my favorite time of the year! I love everything about Fall: the changing colors of the leaves, Halloween, the crisp breeze in the air. So why not get married in the fall.

I was thinking about getting married on my birthday, October 22. But I"m thinking that might be really narcissistic.

My other idea is October 29. I want to get married close to Halloween, and our anniversary is March 29.

So I'd be using a number that's significant. I don't want to zero in on one date until I do my planning session, just in case on date is booked.

The proposal was so sweet, congrats! Can't wait to read more :)

Here are a few colors I'm considering for my wedding.

color_ideas-1.jpg

I'm really leaning towards the Red & Cream.

I like the turquiose and white, however My future SIL in planning her wedding for July of this year and her colors are Blue and Yellow. :confused3

Orange is one of my favorite colors, but my mom keeps saying it will be hard to find dresses in orange.

Hi Kirstin,

I think your colour choices are interesting... I think the Blue and cream is very pretty and nice cool colours for fall time. However, If you go orange or like a pale pretty orange you can do something with pumpkins... and more fall colours browns and beiges... What you think?

I have even seen pumpkin center pieces before... carved out with the couples names in the middle! Obviously this could take a while to perfect!

Any way... Look forward to hearing more! :)

I also like the orange - I think there is so many gorgeous shades of orange that you could really incorporate into a theme! maybe you could add another colour like brown to give you more dress options if you think orange would be difficult?! x

I am loving the red and cream idea. There's just something very classic and fun about this color palette. I think you could do a lot with this combo :)

I love your story! Your DF sounds very sweet and he obviously loves you very much.

I can't wait to read more about your plans. I also think that you should consider using Orange. It can always be a secondary color. Our colors were Cinderella Blue and Silver but we also incorporated pink as a secondary color. I used it in our bouquets and some of the decorations.

I just had an Escape wedding this past December. If you want to read about it I am currently posting pics and writing about the wedding day in my planning journal.

P.s. I also had surgery on my ovary due to a tumor last January. They had to remove my entire ovary due to the extent of the damage. It took me about a month to recover from it. I hope you are doing ok! :flower3:

Do the orange!! Stay true to your unique self. :) I actually think you'll have no problem finding orange-ish dresses. I just did a search on google and found lots of images of pretty dresses. And I like the idea that the previous person mentioned about pumpkins.
