Kristin & Stephen's Magical Disneymoon - May 2013

This is so cute! Another idea is to hold up a blank white sign and then use photoshop or paint to add the wording. I guess it depends what you think is easier - actually writing out the large words, or adding them in later. It may also be easier to read if you add the wording later, in case you get some glare on the sign. Just a thought. :thumbsup2

I also love the magnet idea - we are doing that as well!

That's not a bad idea!! I guess I'll see how the pictures turn out.

So I haven't updated this thread in a while for a couple of reasons. I've been going back and forth about the Disney Wedding. I really can't afford do a Wishes Weddings. :sad2: And since the Escape wedding only limits you to a max 20 people, this became a problem too. There were people close to my DF and I who would be really hurt if they weren't invited to our wedding. 20 people just wasn't enough.

Then my future MIL keep asking why we couldn't just have the wedding out here. It seemed like she really didn't want to travel. She would have gone wherever we wanted to go but I really didn't want to start off my marriage with my mother in law being bitter about the whole wedding.

And more I thought about it, the reason we were having a destination wedding was to save money and cut down on the guest count. But would we really be saving money if we had to put out money for travel expenses?

So we thought about other dates and my mom looked into a banquet hall we really like that was very affordable and the date we wanted was open.

One thing I promised my DM was that if we got married at home, I'd get married in a church. I called the church and they had a 1pm time slot open for the date we wanted.

Everything was falling into place! My new wedding date is SEPTEMBER 1, 2012 - Labor day weekend.

Then today just for the heck of it, I looked up the DCL sail dates for next year and the Disney Dream is sailing on a 4 day Bahamian Cruise THE DAY AFTER OUR WEDDING!!! Yet again it's like it was meant to be!!!

So, we're getting married here. And we're still doing our vacation in WDW in October. And now there is the distinct possibility of a DLC/Disneymoon.

Congrats on having a date! I'll be looking forward to reading about your plans for the at-home wedding! I went through a bit of the same thought process. I would have loved to do a Disney wedding, but it was expensive, we would have had to exclude people, and some people were just not willing to travel. Though my dad loves to travel he was super against the idea of forcing everyone to spend a ton of money just to come to our wedding.

My wedding is labor day weekend of this year :) I think it's an excellent time of year to get married!

Are you going to try and incorporate any Disney touches at all? I'm sure whatever you do will be fun! I really like the idea of using orange as a color... it's my favorite! I don't think it would be too hard to get dresses in that color. David's Bridal has a color called tangerine (looks better in person than on the website), but Alfred Angelo's oranges are nicer. They have a tangerine one called Tangelo, and a darker one called Burnt Orange. I'm sure whatever you decide will be lovely!

You're 1st wedding anniversary will be when I'm getting married. Awesome!! It's nice to here someone else has wrestled with the same problems I did. Would a Disney wedding be my absolutely dream? Yes. Do I want to paying for my wedding for the next 5-10 years. Nope.

I'm going with a vintage theme with some Star Wars touches because we also huge Star Wars fans. Our new colors are actually going to be Red, Black and White.

Wow, a DCLmoon!! That sounds awesome! I was considering doing something like that for my future honeymoon too.

Having a wedding at home sounds great. More peopl can attend and you can totally cut down on costs. Hooraay!! I'm so happy for you!

Thanks Yuki!

Ever since I first saw the trailer for the movie Bridesmaids starring Kristin Wiig and Maya Ruldolph I've wanted to see it really bad. Both those funny ladies were some of my favorite cast member when they were on Saturday Night Live. So both of them in one movie must make for something pretty hilarious.

That's when I got an idea.

Originally I thought it would be fun for my future SIL, whose wedding is coming in July, to take all her bridesmaid to see it. Then I thought, why don't I just take my bridesmaids to it instead. I figure this will give me a good opportunity to get all my bridesmaids together and officially ask them. Most of them know already that I want them to be my bridesmaid, however one or two, I've told in various states of soberness, so I just want to clear up and confusion. :lmao:

I told them to meet at my apartment next Friday for a surprise movie night, not telling them what movie we're going to see. I'm going to make little cards that say "Will you be my Bridesmaid?" and they'll find an envelope with their names on it with the card inside. I'll also have tickets for the movie as well. We're going to go to Hollywood Boulevard which is a movie theater that serves food and drinks while you watch the movie.

Keep an eye out for a report of that night!

Wow! That sounds like such a great idea!! Really cute way of doing it too.

Lol, "various states of soberness".

Aw, what a cute idea! I love it! Hope you enjoy the movie, I'd like to see it at some point too :)

Since we're not getting married at Disney anymore, we longer have to limit ourselves to how many people we can have in our wedding party, due to the amount of people allowed to attend the ceremony per the Escape package. (Sorry that was a stupid long on sentence!) Steve and I have pretty much decided who we want to be in our wedding party. Although we already have some slight wedding party drama that we are trying to work through, but I will get into that in a bit

Here our new and improved wedding party

Maid of Honor: Christina (my Bestie! since we were 12)

Best Man: Jon (Steve best friend since Kindgergarten)

Other attendants:

Lauren: Groom's Sister
Graham: Groom's Future BIL

Mia: Bride's cousin
Ryan: Bride's Brother

Kathleen: Friend of Bride and Groom
Scott: Groom's Brother

Quin: Friend of Bride and Groom
Kevin: Friend of Bride and Groom

Ushers:
Adam:Friends of Bride and Groom
Kyle: Friend of Bride and Groom
Al: Friend of Bride and Groom

Now here's where the drama comes in. About 2 weeks ago, we asked our friend Al if he wanted to be an Usher. His answer: "Sure, I'll be an Usher, if I'm not a Groomsman or anything"

Now our friend Al is a very good friend of ours, I know he would take a bullet for either one of us. I know Al really wants to be in a groomsman, but we can't have everyone on God's green earth in our wedding party. The people we have chosen are family and long time friends, people we've know since or before we started dating. In fact he said to me (jokingly mind you) "I want to be a Groomsmen so I can mack on the Bridemaids." To which I replied "Al, you know all my bridesmaids!!! And one is 11!!" I've tried to fix him up with my friend who is my MoH before which was unsuccessful. I ran down the list of Bridesmaids with him to which is was disappointed saying that he thought I would have a cousin.

Steve was so put off by Al's attitude that he doesn't even really want him to be an Usher anymore. But we sort of already asked him! Al pretty much dug himself a nice deep hole with the "mack on the bridesmaids" comment because now Steve DOES NOT want to be a groomsman AT ALL.

What do you ladies think about this and has any of you had similar problems?

So, I've researching my honeymoon quite a bit. I thought about the date that the Dream is cruising and began to have 2nd thoughts. In order to make it to the ship on time we'd have to get an early flight out to Orlando. But do we really want to be getting up so early after what will have been a very exhausting day and late night? Not really. I started to research other cruise lines, but honestly nothing can match Disney! The staterooms on the Dream are incomparable to the other ships out there. And I know we will receive Disney's signature stellar service. And plus a really REALLY want to do a Disneymoon!!

So I look again at the sail dates around our wedding and saw that a 3 Night cruise is sailing September 6th.

So here's my new plan:
- We fly into Orlando in the afternoon on Labor Day. (I'm gonna go a bit bridezilla and say I DO NOT want to spend the first 2 days of my honeymoon in a car. I'm going to fly!!!)
- Stay at AKL for 3 nights (hopefully on some rented DVC points :cool1:) This is DREAM resort!!! I really would like a Savannah View. I'm going all out, it's honeymoon!! :yay:
- Spend a few days at the parks
- Take the DCL bus to Port Canaveral and board the the Dream for a 3-Night Bahamian Cruise.

I've been doing A LOT of research on the DCL board, because not only am I new to DCL, we're both new to cruising all together. I've heard at 3 nights isn't enough time to see everything on the ship but that will just give an excuse to take another cruise! :thumbsup2 (I have no ulterior motives, I swear :rotfl2:)

Huh...I can't imagine the drama you're going through. Since I don't know your sitch well, can't really say much about it. Hope it gets resolved soon though!

Oooh, a land and sea honeymoons sounds really good!

BTW, Oasis of the Seas from Royal Caribbean is absolutely stellar if you're thinking of super high class on the seas. It's not Disney, but I'm a big fan of Royal Caribbean.

Royal Caribbean is another Cruise line I looked into. It did seem very nice.

Love the honeymoon plans. You will LOVE cruising and LOVE DCL...

Me and DF (at the time DBF) went our our first cruise ever in March 09 on the wonder 4 night cruise, and we've been hooked ever since, ( as you can't already tell by my ever growing signature... hahahhaha)

I might be biased since we've got a 2 week honeymoon booked on the New Fanasty :rotfl: But I promise you will love it and have so much fun.

Yes, three nights is not long enough, we've only one 4 nights then the dream preview 2 nighter and can't wait to spend 14 nights on the newest ship next year!!

First of all, I'm sorry to hear about your wedding party drama. I know this is semantics, but what is the difference between a groomsman and an usher? We're just having five guys and calling them all groomsmen, but I think they'll have some of the typical duties of an usher... but yeah, your friend's reaction seems really uncalled for. My brother has been a pain in the butt too, going on and on about how wasted he's going to get (he just turned 21 a few months ago).

But I like your honeymoon plans! I'm kind of jealous of your AKL plan, that's a place I'm dreaming of staying! Hopefully some day when we have more money. I think you'd love any cruise, especially if you haven't done it before. I would love to go on a Disney cruise someday, but the price has been preventing us. However, we did Carnival about a year ago and even though that's supposed to the be the cheapest and the lowest in glamour out of all the cruise lines, we still had an amazing time and felt like the experience was such a luxury.

I've been looking at Disney's newest ship the Fantasy and I have fallen in love with the ship, even more so than the Disney Dream. I love all the restaurants more than the Dream and the clubs. Also, They have the Aladdin show on the Fantasy and that's steve's favorite Disney Movie. I would really really love to take a cruise on this ship for my honeymoon, however, the nearest sail date to ports I'd like to see is September 16. That's 2 weeks after my wedding. I really don't want to wait two weeks to go on my honeymoon. I know myself and I know for those two weeks I will be so distracted that I won't be able to accomplish ANYTHING! So.....I don't know. I so friggin indecisive.
