Way to go, idiot. You just bought yourself a whole lot more attention for making that statement. You want a private life but make a statement like that? What an insult to rape victims everywhere. If you really feel like you are being raped on a continuous basis, quit acting, move to Idaho and get a real job. (I only mention Idaho because Bruce and Demi (who were 2 of the hottest actors in the biz at the time, moved there when they started their family to escape the paprazzi. And it worked.)

I'd have to see the entire UNEDITED interview to believe that that comment was made... because, everyone knows that magazines NEVER edit their interviews, right. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1:rolleyes1

That was a really stupid thing to say.

I doubt she meant to be disrespectful. The lack of privacy is probably the worse thing she's ever had happen to her, so she's comparing it to the worse thing she can imagine happen to her. Still a stupid, stupid thing to say, but I'm going to assume she didn't mean anything disrespectful.

Funny how actors, athletes and politicians love to whine and complain about the lack of privacy they have, but they don't seem to mind all the money they get from putting their face in magazines, movies or on tv.

She's an idiot. But it sounds a bit like the "we're bigger than Jesus comment." People getting bent out of shape for a stupid comment.

I have NO sympathy for her whining about how famous she is. You're an actress. You chose to star in the movie based on a MASSIVELY bestselling book series. That's what happens. Deal with it. You ain't doing indy film no more toots.

Eh, it is just a metaphor (or more likely a simile) and shouldn't be taken literally. I see no reason to word-police her.

When I was asked if I liked Transformers 2 my response was I felt like I needed a rape shower after paying $11 to see that garbage. It wasn't meant to be taken as fact nor to be word-policed. It was just a way to use an extreme metaphor to get a point across.

If you saw the South Park episode about the last Indiana Jones movie you would see that I am not the only one who feels the metaphor is appropriate.

Even if her words were twisted to sell magazines, I can't really think of a good reason for her to use the word "rape" in her interview, unless she has actually been raped, is an advocate for rape victims, had a friend who was raped etc. And no magazine is dumb enough to insert a word like rape in their magazine or her lawyers would be all over them for libel.

She's young and under all those paparazzi microscopes so I'd guess she is frustrated and said the first thing she thought of to compare it with. Her comparison was probably that she feels like her privacy has been invaded, much like a rape victim's would. Still, I wouldn't read too much into it. Like I said she's young and I'm sure I said many an idiotic thing at the age of 19 or 20! Thank God it wasn't printed in a magazine though, right?:goodvibes

I understand metaphors. I didn't take it literally. I never said she said she is being raped. I said she compared it to rape. I guess some people are sensitive to statements like this because of personal experience. So when they hear a Hollywood brat so casually use the term, it makes them angry.
What if she said she felt like a Holocaust victim? Would that be acceptable?

Exactly. It was a moronic thing to say, but I shudder to think of some of the things I said when I was young.

And for the record, this is what the quote is: The photos are so ... I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped.

Who knows what she meant by it, but she didn't say SHE was being raped, she felt like she was looking at someone being raped. Weird, regardless.

None of it was acceptable. It was a stupid thing to say. What would you like to see happen now? An apology? String her up? What would make it better for you? Cause to me, she's just a stupid kid who said/did something stupid (like her public use of pot). She isn't worth my time or effort, as I put NO stock into what morons like that say.

I just don't know what you want here? Rile up the masses about her stupidity? Boycott her films? Or what?

I've never been famous, so I don't know how intrusive it is to be constantly followed by the paparazzi and I'm sure that her publicist will be issuing some type of clarification on that statement, but, unless it comes out that she had actually been raped before and has a valid comparison, I'll just chalk it up to her being young and ignorant. Lord knows, I've made an occasional stupid/ignorant comment when I was 20 years old. Thank goodness there wasn't a reporter around to actually keep track of and report on it. LOL

It might not be the smartest PR move but I don't play word police so I really wouldn't care. I've payed good money to see comics like Louis CK, Jim Norton, and Patrice O'Neal and all of them have made plenty of jokes about all kinds of terrible things.

FTR I have no idea who the heck Kristen Stewart is but even if I did she can use anything she wants to describe anything she wants. It won't effect my life.

I honestly understand that she did not mean rape in the literal sense. I never said that, I said she compared it to rape. I guess I'm a little more senstive than everyone else. It's just a very hurtful, horrible thing to say. Yeah, I was dumb when I was 20, but then again, I was never a movie star speaking on the record to a major fashion magazine. Maybe she will think before she speaks next time, or maybe she won't. I don't know if she regrets saying whatever it was she said, or if she will stick to her guns. Everyone has an opinion. I'm not a fan anyway.

I don't want anything. What made you think I did? Because I posted a link with comments that were offensive to me? Does everyone on this board have to have clearance to post an article? Why would you even imply that I would like to murder her?? It was a stupid thing to say, and I posted my opinion. If it doesn't line up with your opinion, that's not a problem for me.

Maybe we should all stop thinking that what a celebrity says is so important anyway.

Many times they are taken by surprise by a question or something said to them. They answer like any normal person and without thinking most of us will use the wrong words or just simply say things badly. It happens to everyone, why do we expect it to be any different for a celebrity?

Being a talented actor or actress does not suddenly make a person an expert in anything and it does not put them above saying things that they should of thought better of.

Personally, I don't think what she said is so horribly bad. I know that what she is going through is no where near as bad as rape and I am sure she knows this too. It was a figure of speech. Could she have picked better words? Sure, but I am sure we all could have at times.

Since no one followed "the rule", I am going to do so. I'm also bailing on this thread because I forgot how things can go on here. Last time I posted something that I thought was innocent, it turned into major drama (an understatement, actually). But I can feel things already getting heated, so I'm out. Call me a coward, call me a "post and run", whatever. I'm not asking anyone to close this thread, or to ignore this thread and I even quoted my OP because no one else did. So cowardly I may be, but I'm ok with that. And please don't think I can't handle an opinion different than mine, but when people start asking me what I want as a result of her statement and imply totally off the wall crap, it's kinda moronic.

Not the smartest thing to say but she's 20. People say stupid things. I've said stupid things. You've probably said stupid things. Everyone has most likely offended someone with something they said.

I can understand how someone who's been through that experience would be deeply offended by the statement.

I can also understand how a celebrity would feel like they were being attacked every time they stepped out of their home, being followed, lights flashing in their faces, and lies written about them.

Why did you quote your own post? The reason for doing that normally is so that the OP can't go back and delete the original post and leave everyone wondering what it was about. You can still go back and delete the original post AND the one that you quoted.

Not a fan of hers to begin with. She has no emotional range on or off camera.

I've seen interviews with her and she never comes across well. Very awkward and stiff.

My question is, if you're an actor, can't you at least act like you have a personality???

As for saying stupid things, I am glad no one follows me around with a camera! But this is the life you have worked hard at so you can become famous. Whether you like it or not, it is part and parcel of your career choice. I often get irritated at celebrities moaning about their chosen job. All I can think is, be glad you don't have to mine coal for a living.

I don't think anyone attacked you for your opinion. You are entitled to it. I just don't agree with it and as I always point out I merely post my opinion and don't need everyone to agree with it.

The only person who is attaching a lot of emotion here one way or the other is you :confused3 (which of course you are entitled to do).
