Kristen Stewart compares fame to rape.

I don't want anything. What made you think I did? Because I posted a link with comments that were offensive to me? Does everyone on this board have to have clearance to post an article? Why would you even imply that I would like to murder her?? It was a stupid thing to say, and I posted my opinion. If it doesn't line up with your opinion, that's not a problem for me.

What the deuce?? If you're referring to the "string her up" comment I made, that was a euphemism. Good gracious, you need to not take things so literally (including Ms. Stewart's words).

I'd say the paparazzi make her feel really personally violated. They would make me feel that way. She's young. I hope she finds a way to get away. I don't find her remarks offensive.

Not a fan of hers to begin with. She has no emotional range on or off camera.

I've seen interviews with her and she never comes across well. Very awkward and stiff.

My question is, if you're an actor, can't you at least act like you have a personality???

As for saying stupid things, I am glad no one follows me around with a camera! But this is the life you have worked hard at so you can become famous. Whether you like it or not, it is part and parcel of your career choice. I often get irritated at celebrities moaning about their chosen job. All I can think is, be glad you don't have to mine coal for a living.

It's not her job to have or show emotional range off camera. Actors are just that - actors. How they act in "real" life should really have no importance to the public. I will never understand why some folks (not referring personally to YOU here!!) seem to have a need to know about the personal lives of celebrities. It just seems weird and, in some cases, sick to me. Just because someone is on TV, in the movies, in a band or plays professional sports, doesn't mean their lives should be fodder for public consumption.

That said, I have no sympathy for the ones who go after that kind of attention or put their personal lives out for others to scrutinize.

I just think it's weird to give a hoot about what celebs do off-camera, and I think it's sick and wrong how the paparazzi chase them relentlessly. But the paparazzi wouldn't do it if there weren't millions of people out there buying the trash rags. It's just bizarre.

Way to go, idiot. You just bought yourself a whole lot more attention for making that statement. You want a private life but make a statement like that? What an insult to rape victims everywhere. If you really feel like you are being raped on a continuous basis, quit acting, move to Idaho and get a real job. (I only mention Idaho because Bruce and Demi (who were 2 of the hottest actors in the biz at the time, moved there when they started their family to escape the paprazzi. And it worked.)

Sigh

Well while we are on the topic of making really inappropriate statements ... how about the CEO of BP on Sunday (I believe) made some horrible comment that this oil spill has been consuming every waking minute of his life and that "he would like his life back" ... ELEVEN people died ... and he wants his life back ... ya and now days later he wants to apology for his comment ... :headache: :headache: :headache:

Eh, it is just a metaphor (or more likely a simile) and shouldn't be taken literally. I see no reason to word-police her.

When I was asked if I liked Transformers 2 my response was I felt like I needed a rape shower after paying $11 to see that garbage. It wasn't meant to be taken as fact nor to be word-policed. It was just a way to use an extreme metaphor to get a point across.

If you saw the South Park episode about the last Indiana Jones movie you would see that I am not the only one who feels the metaphor is appropriate.

Oh thank God!! I thought I was the only one who felt that way after seeing Transformers Revenge of the Fallen!!!!!!!:rotfl:

I read the brief article and her quote was: "I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped." Not sure if she was describing herself or what. Now, I think it's a stupid statement (wait, I'll cry her a river) but I think the statement may not actually be comparing fame to rape.

I'm still trying to figure out who she is - is she in those werewolf movies?

I understand metaphors. I didn't take it literally. I never said she said she is being raped. I said she compared it to rape. I guess some people are sensitive to statements like this because of personal experience. So when they hear a Hollywood brat so casually use the term, it makes them angry.
What if she said she felt like a Holocaust victim? Would that be acceptable?

People often refer to their bosses or teachers as being Nazis. No one seems to care about that. Not only are they in a way putting themselves on parr with those victimized by Nazis, they also compare people that I'm assuming have never committed any crimes against humanity of being just as bad as the Nazis.

Anyway, she's young. She said something that she shouldn't have. I've said many things over the years that I shouldn't have. There just isn't, fortunately, any recored evidence.

See I don't see the big deal... her quote was ""What you don't see are the cameras shoved in my face and the bizarre intrusive questions being asked, or the people falling over themselves, screaming and taunting to get a reaction," she tells the new issue of Britain's Elle. "The photos are so ... I feel like I'm looking at someone being raped"

Most people know that Kristen is very shy and does not do well with all the attention. I'm sure that being mobbed by the paparazzi constantly has made her feel very overwhelmed and probably even seriously scared her.. Rape is a violation of mind, body and soul. Rape is humiliating and degrading. So I can see where being as shy as she is how she could have made the connection between being attacked by the paparazzi and and "seeing some being raped..."

All you need to do is look at the photos of her leaving Sydney Australia to see exactly what she means. I take it to mean she feels extremely violated.

These paparazzi people scream horrible things at her. I have seen videos of it. It's disgusting. No one should be treated like that just because they are a celebrity.

And no, she is not comparing FAME to rape. She enjoys acting. She does not enjoy being hounded by 30 grown men chasing after her with cameras.

OK, I do not know this actress, I do realize she is in the Twilight movies BUT why is everyone screaming horrible things at her when she is out and about??? :confused3

I cannot say the exact words because this is a family board, but they scream vulgar questions about what she is doing with Robert Pattinson. Stuff like that.

I would feel incredibly violated if I went through that every time I went out doors.

One needs to develop an extraordinarily thick skin if one wishes to survive working in Hollywood.

I think what is so disturbing is that these fans/paparazzi's have absolutely zero manners. They invade the celebs space, yell obscene questions and then expect an answer or a decent pic?? Ridiculous. Just because someone is a an actor doesn't mean they deserve to be treated this way. It's no wonder Kristen Stewart tries to shield herself. I couldn't handle that at all. I think it's especially harder on those celebs who try to maintain a low profile due to their shy nature.

I despise the paparazzi and have long boycotted all gossip magazines and shows. I wish that everyone would do the same so that these people could live in peace. Being in movies does not give others the right to constantly harass you IMO.

However she could have certainly chosen a better word.
