Kristen & Doug's Wedding: 5.5.12 - TR Day 3 (Updated 6.14)

I'm so glad the seller I gave you came through so quickly!!

Me, too! I kinda wanted to message the original girl and say, "See, this is how business is done correctly!"

wow I really fell behind but I am all caught up now. I really want to be able to book tomorrow land terrace during our honeymoon. I don't know when to check to try and get it for the July timeframe.

I am glad things are coming together for you

It is so close!

Teresa

Let's see... if May dates just opened up recently, probably start checking every day come May? (Rhyming not intentional! :lmao:)

It IS getting so close! I'm constantly back and forth between freaking out that I'm going to forget something and super duper bouncing out of my chair excited!

I'm still reading along Kristen! I am just super behind on commenting.

I am glad you found a good foundation for your dress, lol, it really makes a big difference.

I can't believe how much the time has flow by, it's almost your wedding day. :goodvibes

We also booked the MK tomorrowland terrace party for our trip in May. :cool1:

Teresa: There is a watch thread for the party on the dining board section. That might be a good place to wander over to every once in awhile.

Oh, no worries! I often get behind on commenting

Thankfully the seamstress added cups to the dress; the bra's just for the tank top days, which will likely be most days. I bought my SPF 100 sunblock the other day - I'm good to go now! :rotfl:

Yay! I'm so happy you guys were able to get into the TTDP as well! :goodvibes

We're at 43 days now! And holy flying monkeys, I think things are falling into place!

I had a conversation with our planner, Karen, on Monday to get the transportation issues settled. And she was a delight! (I have terrible phone anxiety; I'm fine once on the phone, but oh, that hour leading up to it, I was a nervous wreck.) After talking it over with Doug's dad on the weekend, we opted for the one-way town car for his family. Just as a heads up, if it's going off-property, it is a little bit more money. :confused3 I figure between his dad and his brother, they should get his mom out the door on time. But just in case, we'll tell her to be ready half an hour before the car will actually be there. ;)

My doctor's appointment this morning went well. She didn't go against the fibro diagnosis which is a relief. (I've encountered more than a few doctors that don't believe fibromyalgia exists, so...) I might need to start looking into more alternative forms of treatment, since I've tried all the current medicinal ones and have either had bad allergic reactions, ridiculous weight gain, or they didn't help at all. Bloodwork in two weeks, podiatrist at some point, etc. Overall, though, I'm pleased. She's nice, and she's not at that terrible medical center in Dartmouth!

Alright, back to the fun stuff. I have the final BEO! And since we're just doing the wedding, I was able to take a screenshot and it all fit in one image! :lmao:

BEOtopost.jpg

And here's the floral one... (this one I had to type up)

Bride's Bouquet:
-Hand-tied calla lily bouquet with white calla lilies and dark blue delphinium
-Wrap the stems 75% in white satin ribbons with 5 pearl pin Mickeys down the front of the stem
-Additional charge for added floral - $25

MoH Bouquet:
-Long stem large white calla lily presentation no greenery needed with the stem wrapped 75% in deep purple satin then crisscross wrapped over that with a thinner silver ribbon - $35

Groom:
-White calla lily with the stem wrapped in deep purple with a pearl Mickey accent

Best Man, Groomsmen, and my dad:
-White calla lily with the stem wrapped in malibu blue satin ribbon - $16.50 x3 = $49.50

Sand Ceremony -

Bride will provide own center sand ceremony jar / we will provide 1 side jar of blue sand and 1 side jar of green sand - $5 x2 = $10

Sprinkle altar table with lavender-blue and white petals (I completely forgot about this ) - $12.50

Bride will provide personalized aisle runner - set up fee - $25.00

Total floral with tax - $165.58

So, altogether, $7711.55. Which is $211.55 over the minimum.

I do so wish we could do more, but hey, there's always the vow renewal in the future. ;)

That payment's getting mailed down on Saturday. Doug's parents did give us some money, which - YAY - covers the last payment! :cool1: Beaute Speciale got paid off yesterday, so all that's left is Randy and Rev. Tim. I found some coupon's online for Macy's this weekend, so I'm thinking Doug is being forced to find at least some part of his clothing then.

Let's see. I need a list. I feel better when I have lists.

-Doug's shirt, shoes, and jacket.
-I need a wedding ring still.
-Doug's mom is still making Kenzie's dress. Which makes me nervous, time-wise. I have to pick up the sash at DB for that this weekend.
-I have to pick up my dad's tie at MW.
-Find a box to mail stuff down to the resort. Find a box to mail my dress and Vicky's dress down to CA's.
-Call CA's and tell them the dress material change. I need to post-it note this one.

I think that's it? Am I missing anything?

Woohoo! You're getting so close. :goodvibes And you're so close to the minimum, which is fabulous. I don't thinkkkk you're forgetting anything: and you still have time if you are!

Are you packed yet?!? :D

I'm so happy to hear that everything is falling into place! I can't believe it's right around the corner. :goodvibes

:rotfl: "holy flying monkeys" That is sooo funny!
43 days! OMG!! YAYAY! This is super exciting!
Congrats on getting the BEO back, I bet that makes it feel all even more real to have that back AND have almost everyone paid off.
How can they say fibromyalgia doesn't EXIST? What are some of the "non-medical" options? I've always been a fan of holistic treatments.
I see that you are supplying your own aisle runner. Where are you getting yours and what are you getting? DF and I are in hot debate about what to do about this.
I'm so excited for you!! :cool1:

So exciting Kristen! :goodvibes BEO looks good! :thumbsup2 Right over the minimum is perfect! I don't think you're missing anything.... Looks good--DF & I have basically a similar list (especially on the we-don't-have-anything-for-you-to-wear-holy-crap part =P) We are getting so close!!!

That is awesome that u stayed so close 2 your minimum! :goodvibes Everything sounds so nice :thumbsup2 GETTING CLOSER

If I had room to start packing, I probably would. Tricia pointed out that today (well, Saturday, and it won't be Sunday until I wake up) makes six weeks. And it seems so much less time when you say 'six weeks' versus '42 days'!

Thanks! And I know! I just wish I could get a few more things crossed off my 'to purchase' list.... Friday's pay day at least!

LOL It came from my attempt to stop swearing as much as few months back.

I sent out the signed BEO and last check this morning. Huge relief! All that's left to pay is Randy and Rev. Tim. Then after May, we can start saving up for a house. (Oh, sweet freedom, how I long for thee!)

I've run into a number of doctors that feel fibro's more psychological than anything else. When I was still the 'medical mystery' back in 2010, I had asked an orthopedic doctor up in Boston about it, and he said that he'd never give that as a diagnosis because "the main symptom is pain and nearly everything has that as a symptom." :confused3 She suggested a chiropractor and wants me to think about acupuncture. I'm totally fine with the chiropractor, but definitely have to think about the the second one. The needles creep me out a little bit.

We got the aisle runner on Etsy, from the seller "idoweddingdesigns". Her prices were really reasonable and she was great to work with. I just got a really basic one that says "Happily Ever After" in a dark purple script.

Thanks! I'm really hoping to get to Macy's tomorrow. There were some coupons up on their site that are only good through this weekend. At the very least, the man could get his shoes! (Because somehow he's fussier than I am! But shh... don't tell him I said that out loud ;))

I just checked her out! WOW those are great prices! How long are you needing one for the WP? 100ft?

I'm really sorry to hear that they think your pain in psychosomatic. Needles creep me out too, but I've hear wonderful things about that type of treatment. Might be worth trying depending on how bad the alternative is. :(
Like you said tho, the adrenaline will keep you pumped and going! You might crash for a month after, but week of will be awesome!

Kristen,

I don't think I have commented before (my bad), but wanted to say that everything looks great and that you are getting to the homestretch!

I totally understand about the worry of being able to get through the day. I have RA and sometimes the fatigue is the worst part, even worse than the pain. I will cross my fingers, if I can, that day for you. :rotfl:

Great job on the BEO! Your day will be lovely! Can't wait to see all the pics and read all about it.

Since I am North of Boston (Medford), I have to ask "what is up with this weather???" Make up your mind!

Hi Kristen!

Sorry i'm just now commenting, but everything looks fantastic! Great job on just being slightly over the minimum on your BEO that's not easy to do!!

Let me put your mind at ease, I'm a HUGE needlephobe --few really bad experiences which have left me freaked out!--and I've had 2 courses of acupuncture for my back/neck injuries. It's not as bad as you may think at all, and for my neck it worked wonders, my lower spine injury not so much -- but they weren't sure it would but they wanted to try it anyway! The worst spots I found were on my hands and feet, but my physical therapist who did the treatments warned me ahead of time and it wasn't intolerable, just more sensitive nerve areas I guess! I don't want to hijack your PJ to discuss it, but feel free to PM me if you want any more info! And Fibromyalgia DOES exist....just some doctors are a bit slow ;)

I went with the 50 foot one, since I wasn't too worried about it covering the stairs to the altar. That and the price kinda dictated my option, too.

Thankfully it was only that one doctor! The new primary and the neurologist for the headaches didn't argue the diagnosis whatsoever, so whew! Though I am convinced that I'm made from recycled parts. ;)

Aww, thanks, Beth! The fatigue monster has been kicking my butt lately, so I'm hoping that by getting it out of the way now, he'll settle down by May. Hopefully!

And indeed, this weather! It was so gorgeous this week and now today? Ugh! Those mid-70s were awfully nice; I don't think we hit 50 today!

Hi Amanda! :goodvibes Thanks! I will definitely PM you as I do have a question or two. And I certainly know for a fact that it does exist - I look forward to a day where I don't have to worry about whether a new doctor will accept that truth, too!

We got so much stuff accomplished this weekend! :cool1:

Doug and I talked Saturday morning, and I think he finally realized how much the stress of all that's left to do/be purchased has been taking out on my body. Originally we were going to head up to the Wrentham Outlet Center on Saturday, but his mom needed computer help. BUT! We did go by some local stores and I was able to find my wedding band! :woohoo:

It's 10K white gold, 1/20 carat, with a slight curve to accommodate my engagement ring. I'm not gonna lie, she showed me this BEAUTIFUL one that I fell in love with, but right now, the price was completely out of our range. Doug said one day, once we're settled down and what not. It's out for sizing now, but should be in on the 12th. This one is such a HUGE relief. I actually slept for seven hours straight on Saturday night! It's been so long since that's happened!

So, yesterday, we went to every single shoe store that they have in Wrentham, because he needed dress shoes and new sneakers. Did we find any? Nope. I did get new slippers and a nice carry-on sized suitcase, though. (Which matches our current luggage. Which sort of makes me happy) He wound up finding dress shoes at walmart of all places. :sad2: And we only went to the supercenter because I'm obsessed with the pineapple coconut water. (Otherwise I avoid walmart like the plague)

I'm happy things are starting to come together. I THINK that all we have to left to purchase is his jacket. And that's either at Men's Warehouse or JC Penny.

OH! Slightly ranty. Doug's mom is making the flower girl dress. She told me on Saturday that while she has the pattern pinned to the fabric, she still hasn't cut it out. Because she needs someone to watch the cats. WHAT THE DUCK?! The cats (all 12 of them) aren't allowed in the sewing room. There are three other people in the house, and it's not like they never go out and leave the cats unattended. I don't know at what point I should tell Vicky to just purchase a dress (which she's fine with doing anyways). I don't want to add stress to Vicky's life right now by telling her all of this, but ARGH! This is why I hate depending on other people.

*sigh* I do feel slightly better now that I got that out of me.

Also - we started packing what's being referred to as the Wedding Carry-on last night. :rotfl: I wish I could pack the Just Married pins in there, but something tells me the airport will have issue with that. :rolleyes1

32 days! :dance3:

YAY for the wedding band (sounds beautiful!) and an even bigger YAY for 7 hours of sleep!!

 I love that DFi found shoes at Walmart- hey at least they were inexpensive! ;)

Oh, MIL.. blaming everything on the cats... gotta love it. Hopefully she gets on it soon!

So so excited for you!!!

So glad to hear that you have had some shopping success and some SLEEP! How much easier the day is when we get rest ;)

The cats....oh my! Here's my suggestions. Buy the flower girl dresses and have them on hand. No one has to know that you have a backup plan and if the dresses get made in time, you can return them! If not, nothing to worry about because you'll have them on standby!

Yay @ getting stuff accomplished! :goodvibes We are getting there! We have everything except DF's outfit :confused3

Ah, sleep and I have such a turbulent relationship. Why can't it ever just be smooth sailing?

Yeah, I'm thinking since we're likely headed over to their house this weekend, I'll let Vicky know. I'm not fussy on style of dress; it's more important that Kenzie be comfortable in it than anything else. I just wish his mom would either start actually working on it (instead of offering to make additional things like barrettes and necklaces) or just say that she's not up to making it. It's not like I'm the type to go crazy in a fit of rage. :lmao:

Yep, that's the last major piece, and I'm determined to make that happen this weekend!

Also, in the exciting news department, I called today and made the appointment to cut my hair. This is big because I'm likely cutting off at least ten inches to donate again to Locks of Love. It's time to lose the "winter blanket" as I refer to my hair currently. I was hoping to be able to dye it red again, but it's just not in the budget this time around. Ah, well. And I still haven't figured out what I'm doing with my hair!

Yay for getting things done! I can't wait to see a picture of your wedding band. I know what you mean about ones out of your price range: I LOVE my wedding band, but the one I fell in love with first was WAY out of my league.

I'm so sorry the wedding stress is getting to you. I know all of us old married ladies say this, but it will ALL be okay. I repeat: it will ALL be okay. Your wedding day will be beautiful. I promise!

Walmart gives me hives. Okay, not really. But I hate Walmart. I step in there and I become instantly stressed.

And, um... 12 is a lot of cats. That's all I will say.
