So after lurking in everyone else's PJ's I figured it's about time I start my own. I need somewhere to get my ideas out and I feel bad constantly chewing off Bill's ear :rotfl2:

Here's a little background on us.. (I apologize for this being all over the place)

Bill and I met at work ( a co. that was a subsidiary of the New York Times) about 9 years ago, maybe even longer than that. He was in the process of getting divorced after being seperated a while (he married really young and wasn't happy) and I was in a relationship too so we became friends, but nothing more. We'd talk and laugh and got along well but never really thought about anything else. Shoot to a year forward, Bill was out on medical leave for a while (he hurt himself at work), we hadn't talked so I thought I'd never see him again (didn't anticipate staying at the job that much longer). BAM! Bill comes back in one night (we worked night shifts since it was the newspaper co) and we start talking again. I was single by this time so what the hey, right? One night not long after, I couldn't get a ride home, he volunteered since we got off our shifts about the same time at 6am, he said it wasn't out of the way really no problemo I promise (a short time later I found out he was 45 mins away from my house, silly boys) we ended up having breakfast, talking, and hanging out for hours. That was pretty much it, we've been together ever since.

Fast forward to now, almost 8 years later. We've had alot of ups and downs and hard times but we're here together, stronger than ever. We talked about getting married but never anything set in stone. This past November, we were discussing life plans and our future together and he tells me that by this time (November, not currently) next year or not long after he wants us to be married. We're sitting in the car, in a Dunkin Donuts parking lot having a coffee so I'm kind of like, really?! You pop this on me now?? I asked if he was serious and he said yes, so I said okie dokie let's do this thang, and that's when we started planning when/what we're going to do.

We always wanted a destination wedding, I always said somewhere warm and intimate, maybe an island or something along those lines. Our original thought when we started seriously talking about it was DCL but my mom as much as she loves DCL was like, ehh there's alot of adults and not too much to do at night, so it went out the window. Then Bill (who wasn't such a Disney person, he's really opened himself up to it now though) suggested WDW. I never let a WDW wedding get it in my head because I thought Bill would be like  but I was wrong (YAY! for being wrong! :rotfl:)

Since January we've been pricing things out, looking at locations and all that good stuff. I would've been content with just my family and throw a party home for everybody else but someone ::cough cough:: decides since he didn't have a real wedding the first time (they ran off), his family wasn't there, his close friends weren't there, he really wants to do it right this time and have the whole kit and kaboodle in FL. This is coming from a guy whose typically pretty tough and doesn't show emotion to anybody so it's actually very sweet, I think that it means that much to him. Anywho, we realized an Escape wedding was out of the question (our immediate family alone comes to just about 18) and a Wishes wedding was too far out of our budget. NOOOOO my dreams of a Disney wedding crushed! I actually cried when I saw the prices and knew for what we wanted to do it would never work out. I get Lurkyloo's book, start doing a ridiculous amount of research and realize HEY we can still do this!!! (And thank you ladies, the PJ's really helped get my stuff together :goodvibes )

We wanted to do October 31 which is my fav time of year in WDW and my fav holiday--F&W, MNSSHP, awesome!!!! BUT next October in the grand scheme of things is too far away and this October is too soon financially.

So now hopefully you got through that whole, long drawn out bit, here's where we're at....we settled on April 2012...not too close, not too far. We don't have a location yet, we're going to look at S&D, SoG, or nix those and go with our original plan of DCL if it gets too nervewracking. If we go with on property the date will be the 13th. It's both of our fav # and it's a Friday..next best thing to Halloween :thumbsup2 but our original black tie NBC theme goes out the window :headache: We're heading down to FL 5/21-5/29 to see Bill's parents who are just outside of Tampa, doing WDW as a break between (5/24-5/27) so we're looking at the properties then.

Now we play the waiting game, less than a year out, still trying to figure out what exactly we're doing.

Here's some random recent pics of us:

So the only thing I actually have done is my dress..it's actually a very cute story behind my dress...

I was never one of those "planning my princess wedding when I'm 9" people, I had bigger fish to fry as a kid :rotfl2: So a few years back, I was working part time in a local mall while going to school and it was getting close to Christmas. I saw these awesome Ralph Lauren skull and crossbone cuff links I wanted to get Bill as part of his Christmas present so when I went on break, I went to Bloomingdale's. Normally in the mall there were 2 different entrances into the store, on opposite sides of the mall (the mall is a weird shape I can't explain it). Instead of going into the one which I'd normally use, I take the scenic route and go to the other entrance. Upon walking towards the men's dept, I go through the dept with all the dresses, gowns, and formalwear. No biggie..until I see this one dress. I look at it, not really stopping and think to myself, wow that dress is the type of dress I want to get married in..ok...keep walking, get to the men's dept, cuff links, no dice. Boo! So I of course go back the same way I came in..again walking past the dresses. This time I stop and look..it's stunning. It's champagne with pearl and crystal beading, applique and lace petals, sooo pretty. I think, ok it's going to be expensive. It's on clearance for $300. Ok, there's only 2 of them left, they're not going to have my size. They have a size 4 and a size 12. I need to get out of Bloomies and fast! I'm thinking to myself, this is nuts, I need to get it out of my head, nononononoooooo. I get back to my store and tell the girls what happened. They say, WELL OF COURSE WE HAVE TO GO BACK AND YOU HAVE TO TRY IT ON!!! Ok, fine. We go, I try it on, fits perfectly. What did I get myself into???? I call my mom and tell her. Later that night I told Bill, not thinking anything of it. I didn't buy it because it's crazy, who really buys a wedding dress and lets it sit in their closet? It's nuts, I'm not that person nosiree Bob I'm not doin it. I try and forget about the dress and I can't. I don't go in Bloomingdales because I didn't want to get upset, I couldn't have the dress, I didn't have the money for it and who knew when I was getting married anyway. Now it's about a week or 2 before Christmas and I had to go into Bloomingdale's for a gift. I go through the dress section again..it's still there, only 1, in a size 4. I sigh and continue on my merry way. I casually mention it to Bill, we have a brief conversation about it, nothing thought of it. A few days later I'm back in the store, I check again, it's gone. Ok, wasn't meant to be, it was crazy talk anyway.

Now it's Christmas, Bill bans me from my room because he has to wrap one last present. Once I'm in I see this terribly wrapped blob on my bed. There's a few other gifts too. Me being me goes for the blob gift first. He tells me to wait, I open up the other stuff, all awesome gifts--yay Christmas! But I still have the blob, so I open it. As soon as I have a teeny part of the paper off I immediately start crying. He bought me the dress!!!! OH EM GEE!! Turns out he went into the store with one of my coworkers who saw it, had her grab it and he paid for it. To this day he still hasn't seen it, it's hanging hidden in the back of my closet, waiting for us to get married. And I still love it as much today as I did then. I can't find pictures of it online since it's older so I have terrible iphone pics but without further ado, the dress!

Sorry for the chest shot, it's the only way you can see the applique detail, :rotfl:

still need a picture of the bottom, each is a tear drop shaped champagne lace letal sewn on with a crystal, the pictures don't really do it justice.

I'm torn about colors...I want white but since my dress is champagne I feel like it's going to clash so I think I need more creams/ivory/champagnes. That probably sounds ridiculous. When we were going with October there was no question what colors, it was going to be red and black. With spring though, I feel like it's not appropriate so I was trying to figure out a way to make it spring-ier. Here's what I got so far, we're going to go with pink/red/cream/black..sounds busy but once you see it together it works...

Hi there! Love your story. Can't believe your DF bought you your dress, its gorgeous so I'm glad you were able to get it! Your inspiration pics are great, cant wait to see what else you come up with. :)

Yay! You started your PJ.:banana:

Your story about you and Bill is so cute and I can't believe he bought your dress as a present. Crazy sweet.

I think your colors sound pretty and can't wait to hear more.

TY ladies!!! Nice to have ya tag along..now we can all stalk each other :cool1::banana:

It's funny with the dress..when we were talking about doing October I wanted to get a second dress for the reception, I was going back and forth with it and I thought if we were doing black, red and white I wanted a really wild black and white ballgown since it would be halloween and for black tie I'd need something really fancy schmancy...I was trying to explain my dress and the color, and said for the ceremony I refuse to wear anything else...I was trying to convince him to look at it so he understood what I was talking about so I'm telling him, hunny come look at it and tell me what you think so we can figure it out and he's like NOOOOOOOOO!!!! :rotfl:he refuses to look at it, he won't go in my closet, nothing...he tells me if I want a different dress it's fine and I keep telling him the only way I'll get a second dress is if we do something afterwards in a park that requires me to take my gown off. Now watch, he'll somehow find the PJ and see the picture :rotfl2:

Sooooo for the past week or so I've been trying to make a pros/cons list of doing WDW compared to DCL..the thing I like about DCL is you book it and that's it, everything is pretty much done and who comes, comes, who doesn't..oh well no biggie. With WDW though it's more an actual wedding, reception, the whole shibang. S/D I wouldn't have to do so much myself but I feel like as pretty as it is, it's architecturally masculine, there's not many spots to take pictures at the resort and you have to venture off hotel property to get pics and hope you don't run into a DFTW bride and the reception options are more limited. We can either have a reception there which isn't really wow'ing me, do a dinner at a resort or bring people into the park for dinner. With SoG, the property is almost like you're not in Disney it's almost like a country club and the price is definitely right but I'm doing lots of stuff myself, I'm not sure how much their event coordinator does. I'm decent at DIY and getting things done so that doesn't really concern me either, but I just don't know..My one BFF told me when I was talking to her (Disneydreamerk, fellow Disney nut and WDW CM, she'll probably start lurking..Hi Kris! :cutie:) told me she thinks I'm subconciously picking SoG. Bill's thoughts are when we get there and check everything out then we'll know and pick but I feel like when all is said and done we're looking at 10 months out and for WDW it seems so..short...lol. I know whatever I go with will be great and I really don't have a choice but to wait a month but it's racking my brain and making me nuts!

BTW this whole thing started today because the cherry blossom trees here finally started blooming and as we were in the car before I said, I looove cherry blossoms, Bill said, me too! Then I thought..HMMM Cherry blossom branches would be awesome centerpieces and how appropriate for spring :dance3:

Why am I even awake? :surfweb:<--me minus the coffee. Thanks guys for listening to me ramble on.

Hey,

joining in! :) CONGRATULATIONS to you both!

I think your dress story is beautiful... I cant believe he didnt even take a sneeky peek! Well done DF! hehe It looks amazing on you!

Talking about a second dress for the reception, I have seen people with a simalar style dress (Not as nice obviously) and what they did for the reception is tie a appropriate coloured sash around the waist. But it looks brilliant! really changes it up for the reception! :) Just an idea! :dance3:

The cherry blossom idea is great! I think because you both like it then definatley go for it! :) It will look amazing... Maybe you could hang things from them too!? Like little crystals?

OOOOh I almost forgot... I love your colour choices too... Girly yet masculine too! :)

Any way... Looking forward to hearing more! Plus your another 2012 bride! :)

What a brilliant dress story, thats awesome. Such a nice gesture from your Df.

Look forward to reading more. Happy Planning xx

Joining in! I absolutely love your dress story! I just had to tell my FH, and even he was like "awe!" hehe. You've definitely got a winner in your FH.

Love all the colors in the inspiration board. It's going to be beautiful. and the cherry blossom branches will be stunning. We are doing October, but if we were a spring wedding, I'd be copying you for sure! Can't wait to hear more of your details. :yay:

Thanks Fay! That's a good idea, I don't think it would work with my dress though because the applique and beading goes all the way down so it would look funny :sad2: I don't need to change my dress now though I'm going to wear it the whole time unless we do something that forces me to change. Yay for 2012 brides!

Thank you Allie! That's funny you told FH....since there's so many of you fall brides, I'm going to live vicariously through you :rotfl:

So I'm trying to figure out how to turn this into spring...

224805_1932518799985_1452728356_2108134_4732469_n.jpg

this one I'm not tooooo concerned....hanging amaranthus isn't a big deal and don't even know if I'd use it since we're not doing the fall thing, we don't need black manzanita...this here's where the cherry blossom branches come in..I figure just substitute, probably get some thin strands of crystals since the flower is so delicate and hang them from the branches, add a few tealights. I loveeeee that look :lovestruc

now THIS is the problem...

222931_1932519039991_1452728356_2108136_2268196_n.jpg

we both are in love with this but I'm unsure how to layer it so it looks proper but not too dark..I thought leaving the lace black because I think any other color will look meh and do the underneath either the dusty pink or white? Let the centerpieces and everything else on the table lighten it up? We'd definitely go with everything else being the creams and dusty pinks with little pops of red. I dunno.

I love your taste in things! We were originally looking at doing an at home wedding, and these would have been our colors (we were going to do a halloween/scary movies type theme)
It is a little dark for spring, but if thats what you like, go for it! I think if you do add pink it may lighten it up though. Definitely not add as much black and that would lighten it up a bit as well :)

Yea, it didn't dawn on me until I read this but maybe do a cream lace with the blush underneath..I'd have to see it though, it may look very old victorian grandma's house? Does that even make sense :upsidedow:dance3: I have to take a trip to the fabric store..if today wasn't Easter I'd do it but everything is closed dagnammit.

LOVE THEM ALL!!!! I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE the cherry blossoms in the small vases underwater it's sooo pretty..and the branches..LOVE LOVE LOVE :lovestruc I sound like a Beatle :rotfl:ALL YOU NEED IS LOVEEEEEEE dum da dum da dummmmm

TY for the input ladies, it makes me feel good I'm not talking to myself like a crazy person cuz that's usually what happens :woohoo:

So while I'm waiting for Bill to get here so we can have dinner, I decided I'm going to order my converse this week because I don't want to miss out on the patterns they currently have up on the site, here's what I narrowed it down to:

these

or these

I like #3 because of the embroidery but pairs #1 and #2 are more fun, I think. I'm leaning towards #2 because the xoxo inside is just so cute. #3 seems kind of plain. What do you guys think?

I love them all :lovestruc
I think if I HAD to pick, I'd choose #1, but you can't go wrong with any of them! And you know I'm all about converses!
