Ok - is this ride ridiculously scary? How does it compare to the big ones over at IOA?

DD started doing coasters this year just, before even looking at them made her feel sick.
We went on Simpsons, and she loved this ride, told her that was what it was like on a real coaster. When we got out after 3 rides on the Simpsons, she wanted to leave and go to IOA to ride the Hulk, well she loved it, was like a Devil had been let loose:rotfl2: rode about 5 times in a row, i felt sick, ,then it was of to ride Fire and Ice.
Then we went to Sea world, and she had to get on Kraken straight away, the scariest part for me is the slow climb up, seems forever. She loved this , thought it was even better than IOA coasters, I would say its probably on a par with Hulk, but slightly longer, [maybe it was the slow climb up to the first drop]

Kraken is similar in speed and height to most of the big Florida coasters, but in my opinion is the best coaster in Florida followed by Montu in Busch Gardens. The reason it's my favorite is how you feel like you're in a Lay-Z-Boy doing 60 mph as it's so incredibly smooth. Also front row is above and beyond amazing on this ride with it's floorless train cars.Comparing it to Hulk,I give Hulk the 0-60 mph launch which is probably one of the best moments on any ride out there, but the rest of the ride has gotten a bit rough over time, still good but not like when it was new.Dueling Dragons is a great inverted coaster and the near misses are great and is still smooth as it was when it opened in 1999.It's probably just behind Montu in terms of Fla favorites followed by Kumba,Gwazi and Sheikra, amazing drops at 90 degrees down at 200 feet and 70 mph but too short of a ride time.Revenge of the Mummy is a great indoor coaster but too different of a coaster to be compared.I wonder if the new Universal coaster Hollywood Rip ride Rockit will be up there in my favorites.

Haven't rode Kraken yet but will this coming year along with Manta and the HRRR at Universal :)

Kraken is one of the only coasters that we will queue for the front row. It is the only place that you really get to experience the floorlessness (if that is a real word!), you think that your feet are going to hit the track. Brilliant!:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I was a newby to 'coasters this year and I did Kraken as one of them.

I didn't ride upfront (not that brave yet!) but loved it near to the back of the ride. It was early morning when we got to the enterance and we pretty much walked onto the ride. Have to say - it was AMAZING! Left me completely breathless!!

Then again, I did get off the giant and ask to ride it again straight away! :rotfl2: DBF was quite pleased by this and we walked right around and back on there again - after this one I gave up, as I'd made myself feel sick!! :rotfl:

Still, was fantastic, not one to be missed!! :thumbsup2

Kraken is awesome! :worship:

As for wait-times - we've walked on even on busy days at SW. The last time we were there, we did front, middle and back row comparison rides one after the other. Both DH and I agreed - the front row rocks! :hippie:

I think the biggest difference with Kraken (vs. Hulk and Dueling Dragons) is that you get to fully experience the first drop. At IOA they twist you around and disorientate you on the first drop, which is still fun, but you don't get the classic drop like Kraken. There is more suspense built. There are also a few areas the car slows down and lets your experience brief weightlessness/stomach dropping moments.
