Kouzzina?

Which desserts did you order, if you don't mind me asking? Thanks!

I also disliked the dessert.
I had the Loukoumades - Freshly Made Greek Doughnuts drizzled with Warm Honey

I expected these to be fresh and hot similar to the beignet you get at Pat Obrien’s in Universal (I highly recommend those, I think they have a walkup window so you can get a bag to go).

These tasted like they cook them at the beginning of the night and then reheat them when they are ordered. Very hard and not very tasty.

I have made the Italian version of these at home and they do not take that long that they have to make them in advance and reheat them, especially for $7.

Geez - we got a few of them (there was 6 of us)

The Baklava (which I was SOOOOOO looking forward to) was so disgustingly dry. It was seriously the worst Baklava I've ever had (on a side note - the Cashew Baklava in Morocco's coffee bar is super duper good)

Some chocolate cake - again, dry.

A Custard Pudding thingee, with ice cream. Not dry - but super bland.

I think that might be it. The desserts were the only thing I would not recommend at all.

I have to agree on the desserts. We weren't crazy about the Greek donuts. (By contrast, we had the freshly-made donut dessert at Jiko and that was wonderful.)

I agree the best place for Baklava is the Morocco pavilion.

Still, we'll go back to Kouzzina because we loved everything else.

A group of 5 of us ate there in late September (shortly after they first opened). Everyone in the group agreed that it was the best meal of the trip.

I can't remember everything that we had, but here's some of it:
- I had the slow cooked lamb shank. Incredible! It was so tender that it was literally falling off the bone.
- A VERY picky friend decided to go out there and get the lamb burger. She'd never tried lamb before and was terrified. She loved it. We all had a small taste and I was impressed.
- Another friend had the oak fried pork t-bone. He also loved that.

All the meat was cooked perfectly and we definitely didn't experience the oversalting that someone else did.

We will definiately, 100% go back to eat here.

I did get to meet the wonderful Cat Kora so it hurts me to write this but the food was horrible. Had the sampler starter which was meh. Had the Greek lasagna which was described to me by my db as cinnamon flavored mush and I had the lamb shank which was tender but was flavorless. We will not be going back. Cat was super nice though and even gave me a hug!

Has anyone had breakfast? I don't know how that could be bad, but no one has commented about breakfast yet....I would love to meet Cat Kora, I hope she is there when we are in December!:goodvibes

Well, I for one wasn't Spoodles' greatest fan and I'm happy to see and try something new. Have ADR's in Feb, I guess we'll see then! I enjoy greek food so I'll try it.

Kouzzina was my favorite restaurant of our October trip. Maybe it's all in what we ordered. I ordered the whole fish and DH prdered the lamb shank. It was the fish and lamb shank trip (we ordered those 2 things in half of our dinners). Both dishes were moist, flavourful, complex and perfectly executed. Lamb and fish are in general our favorite foods, and based on the reviews it seems most people who ordered that were very happy with their meals.

Desserts were good too - we had the chocolate cake (like a flourless-type) and one of the greek desserts and they were both yummy. The room is a little plain, but after all the noisy character meals and buffets, we welcomed that.

My DD and I ate at Kouzzina in early October. She didn't like anything she ordered, but I had the clam appetizer and I loved it. It was one of the best things I had to eat all week. One word of caution, the sausage in the dish is very spicy--probably too spicy for most people.

Hi we ate there in September and while it wasn't our worst meal it was extremely forgettable, bland food and not a great restaurant atmosphere.
We won't bother eating at Kouzzina again.
:sad1:

We had breakfast there last month - my husband ordered the Stacked Breakfast with Sweet Potato Hash and he loved it. I ordered the Spinach / Feta scrambled eggs and they were awful - go figure.

The white sangria was quite tasty; the press pot coffee was not nearly as stong in flavor as we expected it to be - we must drink stronger stuff at home.

Service was fine ... food quality obviously uneven. It's not a place that we would go out of our way to dine at again but I wouldn't warn people away either. I think they must still be working out a lot of kinks.

I think i'll be trying that stacked breakfast though, it sounds good.

How do you screw up scrambled eggs???? It's not easy.
Where they powdered eggs or under cooked?

I also found thier coffee very week. I got an espresso there at it was obviously not espresso roast beans. (They grind thier own BTW)
I wish Disney would just get Espresso Pods.

I ask because I really miss the breakfast at Spoodles. It was the best options in the epcot resort area. (Reasonably priced and not a buffet)
(BTW – I prefer the dinner at Kouzzina to the dinner at Spoodles)

Everyone I've talked to who has eaten breakfast at Kouzzina and who has ordered this has been very complimentary.

:lmao: I said the same thing! I ordered one of the easiest items on the menu to prepare and they were just awful. They were actually over-cooked - kind of rubbery (I think that my food may have been sitting under the heat lamps for a bit before it showed up at the table). Sadly the whole plate was just not good - the potatoes were tasteless and overcooked, the english muffin was cold, and the bacon may have been Oscar Mayer microwavable gunk ... just a disappointing plate all around.

We had always heard good things about the breakfast at Spoodles and were planning to try it on this last trip ... too late for us, unfortunately.

We are having dinner there on Friday so I'll report back. I'm hoping now that the kinks are out, it will be good. Will make sure to say we don't like our food too salty!

We went last Thursday evening 11/5/09. Service at first was great I guess b/c there weren't a lot of people but then it went downhill once it got really busy.

Okay the food....

The entrees were amazing. I had the fisherman's stew. It had tons of scallops, shrimp, mussels and a big chunk of red snapper. The broth was rich and tons of flavor. Dh had the whole red snapper. It was excellent. The server that brought the fish offered to debone it (which of course he accepted). Both entrees were very filling. Ds had the chicken breast off of the kids menu and it was super dry but he liked the sweet potato fries a lot.

Now for dessert...I got the loukamades (greek donuts) they were awful. If I threw them at the wall they could have easily left a hole there :confused3 They were over fried. I have had them at the Greek festivals and they were always delicious. Dh had the chocolate lava cake and that was really good.

Overall I would go back there in a heartbeat! The entrees were worth it.

We came here twice during our last trip. The pastitsio was very flavorful and I loved the spicy lamb burger with sweet potato fries. Portions were pretty big, too. Nobody could finish their meals.

We ate there last week. To be fair, husband is greek and we spent a month eating in Greece last year.....

We thought the food was okay.

Our server was really good.
We were able to order pina colada's as our drink under the dining plan.

We ordered an additional saganaki out of pocket.
This was good and as all saganakis we had in Greece, none are the same.

Daughter and I shared a pastitsio and the lamb. I didn't think the pastitsio was that good. Kinda dry. Husband said his fisherman's stew was good. Son really liked his lamb burger.

The loukoumades were thick and awful.

I think the average person who like food court greek food will be impressed. If you have a greek town like we do in Toronto, or have a yaya who makes awesome greek food or have spent time eating food in Greece, I think you will find it just okay.

For us, we are not into character meals or buffets....so the atmosphere made for a nice evening.

Just a note about all the opa's. I have read comments that the servers don't do the "opa" thing with the saganaki. We were surprised that in Greece not once did they do this and we ordered this in every restaurant. Saganaki is just brought out to your table.

We were there in October and had the whole fish and lamb shank, both of which we really enjoyed. The whole fish was really outstanding...fresh, light, flakey meat. the sauteed veggies that came with it were colorful and tasty. We will definitely go again and order this dish. I also loved the lamb shank, as a previous poster said it was very, very tender. I wish that we had ordered a Greek salad. It looked good. We didn't get it because we had had one earlier that day at the F & W Festival. We had the sampler plate with different spreads and olives. It was good but not great.

My wife and I ate there the first week of November. We had an ADR for dinner at Kouzzina for the final night of our trip, but because we were staying at the Boardwalk Villas decided to give it a pre-trial for breakfast. We both really enjoyed our breakfast before descending into the parks and so much so, we returned for another breakfast during our stay. We had also dined at Grand Floridian Cafe one morning for breakfast, and was completely un-impressed. They might as well have just handed me a plate and told me to head to the buffet, because that was the quality of food I received for the All-American breakfast, and while at Kouzzina everything was fresh, flavorful and the chicken sausage was exceptional! The price point for breakfast at both places were generally the same. As far as service was concerned, I do feel as if they did have a lot of staff on hand for our dining experience, but expediting the food from the "pass" took longer than necessary. Dinner was a basic introduction into Greek Cuisine that was unpretentious, family orientated and generally satisfying. We split the Calamari & Saganaki for appetizers; I had the wood grilled Flank Steak and the wife had the Pork T-bone. The portion size for all items we had were perfect.
