Kouzzina by Cat Cora closing Nov29-Dec14

Rachel Ray isn't a chef. She is a "food celebrity". Cat Cora is a trained chef, hence her role on Iron Chef.

I am well aware. Rachel Ray is an annoying "cook" at best.

My issue is that they just made her an Iron Chef because they wanted a female Iron Chef.

She has not done anything to really prove herself.
Kouzzinna if her first restaurant for example, yes she has been a chef, but she really did not excel and did not have to prove herself.

Regardless I do think that Kouzzinna is one of the few bright spots in Disney Dinning, but the menu and the food needs a little more work.
Can't blame her for that, she does not have that much to do with it.

I like Cat Cora, she seems like a decent gal. But I hope they're putting up a picture display about her and you don't get a spiel from a person about her life story. Because I don't want to hear it every time I go in for some granola pancakes.

Using this logic, why did they make anyone an American Iron Chef? Bobby Flay because they wanted a jerk? Mario Batalli because they wanted an Italian? Morimoto because he's the only one who was an actual Iron Chef? Considering you can win a reality competition and become Iron Chef, I wouldn't say it's a position I give much clout to. They just pick personalities they think people will like and throw them in kitchen stadium.

Also, I think Cat Cora might be the only female who is actually a chef on the network. I know Anne Burnell is but she's also Batalli's soux chef. Alex Gurnashelli is, too. But both of these women didn't get their shows until well after Cat Cora was made Iron Chef.

Anyway, I have a reservation for Kouzzina December 19th and am anxious to try it out!

Shoot! When I read the thread title, I was hoping it meant it was closing for good. I so wish they' bring back Spoodles! It was one of my favorites, and I can't stand Kouzzina.

Ditto, though I never got to try Spoodles, I had looked at the menu and wanted to go for our May 09 (I think) trip but then I found it was closing. We tried Kouzzina but I was unimpressed.

I just talked to a gal in dining reservations and she confimed that Kouzzina by Cat Cora IS closing Nov29-Dec14. I cancelled my Dec 6 ressie and tried several other places (Canada, France, Japan, etc.) and finally ended up with Nine Dragons (China).

If you had a breakfast reservation for there in November, would you just cancel? It'll be for 11/14 so they'll still be open but I'm thinking their hearts won't be in it, LOL. I might just try to find something else.

We went to Spoodles & loved it. We are huge Food Network fans and of course love seeing Cat Cora on Iron Chef...so we're excited to give it a try despite reviews.

This sucks! Our fave breakfast is at Kouzzinas. I arrive on the 28, so I will not be getting the stack this trip

I just wanted to say that despite the reviews, we had a wonderful meal in August. We love Greek food, and we were a little worried about how we would like Kouzzina's food. We loved the food, and the service was terrific. We will go back the next time we visit WDW. I hope you enjoy your meal as well.

Does Disney typically contact those who have adrs when a restaurant will be closed? We have adrs at Kouzzina during this time period and looked forward to eating there but I need to find an alternative, if this is true.

I had dinner at Kouzzina back in April and it was delicious! Heading back for a quick 36 hour trip next week and can only squeeze in a bite to eat there at breakfast this time. Looking forward to it!

We had reservations on 12/7 for dinner and they just called me today to tell me that they are closing the restaurant for refurbishment from 11/29 through mid December and that they had to cancel our reservation. I don't understand why it needs to undergo refurbishment already. It's been open, what, a year and a half at the most?

Well...it is official now. Just received a call from a CM telling me my 12/02/10 ressies at Kouzzina have been canceled. They did give me a name and number to call for a replacement ressie. I don't know how that works because either a time is available or not but I will call on Monday. Any suggestions fellow DISboarders?

I just got my call a few min's ago saying they would have to cancel my reservation on 12/4. i guess the guy i talked to at disney dinning the other day didn't know what he was talking about.

How will this effect the Club Level guests staying at the Boardwalk Inn because Kouzzina is where the hot food offerings come from and it just so happens that my family and I will be staying Club Level at the Boardwalk Inn during this time from December 9 - 23 when Kouzzina is closed.
