The menu at Kona is extremely appealing to me. The pork chop especially sounds delicious. What really sounds and looks good is the tuna oscar! I DO NOT like tuna fish from a can but like most other kinds of fish. People tell me that a tuna steak is much different from the tuna you buy in a can. Should I try this dish? Help!:confused3

Tuna steak is kind of hard to describe. Texture wise it is sort of like swordfish or white meat chicken, flavor wise it is more like rare beef steak than anything else, but not that much like beef (just more like beef than it is like anything else), as long as you get it seared/rare. But it's so different than anything else that the only way to be sure you'll like it is to try it.

I can't promise you'll like it, but it's nothing like canned tuna. Basically the canned stuff has been cooked to death.

FWIW, I liked the Tuna Oscar a lot, but my husband absolutely loved the miso glazed mahi mahi.

Fresh tuna bears no resemblance to the canned stuff. I have never liked Chicken of the Sea, but tuna steak ranks among my favorite fish. The tuna Oscar dish at Kona Cafe is a good way to try tuna. There are so many accouterments and sauces and sides that the flavors all blend together into something wonderful. And if you like it, you can add tuna to your diet!

I enjoyed the tuna Oscar when I had it last May. It's not my favorite entree at the restaurant, but I would order it again.

i do love tuna steak but i thought this was tasteless and i was dissapointed after hearing great reviews on the disd..i think it just needed more seasoning.,

Go for it.....one of my favorite restaurants....everything is good.

I won't eat tuna out of a can for anything, but this dish is amazing.

Don't miss the creme brulee for dessert.

The Tuna Oscar at Kona is one of DH's favorite meals on property. We have to go to Kona for dinner at least once every trip regardless of what meal plan we're on so he can have this dish. We even went once in our Woody and Jessie costumes on the way to MNSSHP. He loves it! :)
