I won't do it justice, but will say that I've ordered it two of the last 3 visits there and really enjoy it. Mahi mahi itself is a very nice, mild, firm white fish, and has no fishy taste at all. I can't remember if it was dipped in some type of breading and sauteed or had no breading. It sits on some type of veggie and ?? perhaps rice or crunchy onion rings somewhere in the dish, and there's a sauce involved, too. OK, I know this isn't helpful --- there's a lot going on in this dish, as Rachel Ray would say. The waitstaff have always recommended it as a very popular dish, and I agree. It's filling, and I rarely have room for desert.
DH has ordered the chicken the last 3 visits -- it's a boneless chicken breast, dipped in coconut and almonds, sauteed, and served over a very nice bed of mixed salad greens....... so, basically a chicken salad, except the chicken is extra tasty. He LOVES it, and I agree that it's very good, but there's so many good choices at Kona. The steak has also been excellent.
We've been eating at Kona for years and usually go there at least once each visit.
