Which one of these (or any other 1 TS restaurant outside of parks) would you recommend for my family to enjoy the first evening after we arrive? We will be 2 seniors, 3 adults and a teenager and a preteen with a peanut allergy.
We have visited WDW many times, but have never tried any of these restaurants. I thought a dinner and walk around the Boardwalk or Downtown Disney areas would be nice. I am also considering Kona because it seems interesting too. By the way, is Kona's food spicy......... I don't think my mom would enjoy spicy food.
Thanks for your help, Bookworm

For that group and your first night in Disney, definately Raglan Road. We have been many times, the food and service are fantastic.

Where is Raglan Road? I have made all my ADR and now am 2nd guessing some of my choices. I think I have over done the planning on the meal side?Maybe I will change 50's to spoodles or Raglan.

thanks :wave2:

Raglan Road is in DTD

There were alot of Ragland Road pictures posted recently on the food thread. It may help with your decision.

Raglan Road!! We just dined there 2 weeks ago and it is fantastic. The restaurant is beautiful, the food is delicious, and our server was perfect.

I've eaten at both Kona and Raglan Road, and you really can't go wrong at either. Spoodles is in our plans for our trip this August.

If you enjoy desserts, I would probably choose Kona :thumbsup2 .

While I really enjoy Raglan Road, my vote from your list of 3 would be Spoodles - given the make-up of your group, esp for the seniors. Raglan Road can be quite loud. The entertainment is great, however, it does start a bit late (9ish) and is very, very loud.

The food at Spoodles and Kona is very good. The reason that I pick the Boardwalk is that I fondly remember a group dinner we had with my inlaws (actually at Cape May). After dinner, we took the boat over to the Boardwalk. My MIL and FIL grew up along the coast - and really enjoyed walking around the Boardwalk. Brought back memories of their youth. DS enjoyed checking out the entertainment on the boardwalk with his grandparents. It was a great evening for us all!

And just to confuse you more :rotfl2: let me make a vote for Kona Cafe. Our new fav. restaurant. And no, the food is not spicy. Yummy-Filet, Shrimp and Scallops, Macadamia Mahi-Mahi. :goodvibes My DD6 loves the sticky wings appetizer (she makes a meal of them) and she doesn't like anything spicy, salty, or too sweet. We like the atmosphere at Kona too-not noisy, very relaxing. We also like Spoodles-though last time it wasn't as good as previously.

We haven't eaten at Raglan Road, weate at the take-out next door, Cooke's of Dublin, our first night there in Jan. and it was just okay. The menu at RR looks interesting, maybe we'll have to give it a try too!

My vote is for the Kona...though we've never had dinner at Spoodles.

Raglan Road was all right....but I don't know that we'll be rushing back. The service was wonderful, the food was good...but I wouldn't go beyond "good" for the description. Nice place, nice meal, but I'd rather go to the Kona.

Raglan Road was great. DH and I ate there our first evening last December. DH had the fish and chips and I had the Salmon. We both REALLY enjoyed our dinners! There is also live entertainment there too. It was a great first meal that trip!!

I vote for Spoodles! The food is excellent as is the service. Being on the Boardwalk would be an excellent way to start your vacation. You can have a stroll afterwards with a view of Epcot, the boats coming and going, the lights on the water .. magical! There are some games for the kids, too!

Thats a hard question! We had dinner at RR a few weeks ago.. It was great..you have to try the bread pudding....enough to share and delicious!!!. Spoodles would be my second choice...the food is very good ...and you cant beat the Boardwalk.... :woohoo:

Thanks for all the responses. It sounds like there are 3 good choices. I hope I can figure out what to do. :)

I've eaten at Spoodles and Kona. Everyone in our party really enjoyed Spoodles. I had a pasta dish that I remember as good, but don't remember which one.
We ate at Kona last week and I had the coconut chicken. It was absolutely fantastic. The aromas from this dish whent they placed it in front of you were great. It is served with a field of greens salad with pineapple and strawberries. I would not hesitate to eat there again.

We're thinking about Raglan Road on a Saturday night after 8:00 in late July. There's me, DH, and DD12 and DS8. Is Raglan Road an adult-bar kind of place at that time? If we had an ADR I'm assuming we'd have a table and wouldn't have to worry about the bar crowd, yes? Anything else about RR? I'd like to try it--just not sure about when...Thanks! :sunny:

DisneyDotty My DH and I took our DS (age 9) to Raglan Road around 8:15 p.m. on a Tuesday in late March - for dessert and to see the entertainment. He had a great time - and I wouldn't hesitate to bring kids here at that time. The wait staff is fabulous. The desserts incredible. And the music/dancing is wonderful! My warning is that it is LOUD.
