Kona or Spoodles? I have an ADR for Spoodles but I've been reading mixed reviews and, truth be told, the menu doesn't look THAT great. I've heard that Kona is pretty underrated & the menu looks pretty good. Which do you prefer & why?

Also...is there even a chance I can still get an ADR for Kona this late in the game?

We did Spoodles for dinner and were not blown away, it was just ok for us. We did Kona for breakfast and fell in love, we are going to try dinner next trip.
We did Spoodles for breakfast and it was disgusting.

As far as getting a reservation that depends on how close you are cutting it time wise, when are you going?

We leave in a week and a half. I just called & was able to get Kona with a 6:25pm reservation! I think I'm leaning towards canceling Spoodles, though I DO love BW. I've never been to the Poly to walk around though...

Thanks for your opinion! :yay:

I just got a ressie for Kona for our August trip, and I had a choice of a few times. It doesn't seem to be a very hard to get ADR.

As far as Kona vs Spoodles, I have no opinion really other than that Kona's menu looks much better to me. The starters at Spoodles look really good, but none of the main courses jump out at me. I'm trying to decide between an ADR at Spoodles and winging it at ESPN Club for August - ESPN's menu is sure to be a hit with the kids, but I'm not sure about the potential wait for a table.

Kona is one of my very favorite WDW restaurants, up there with California Grill and Boma. I love, love, love the mahi mahi. Our trip this past week was the first time we've visited WDW and NOT eaten there. It was just too hot for a big meal. The only ADR we kept was for Boma, and we really couldn't do that meal justice!

The spoodles new menu is so limited so we are going with Kona this year.

Kona's without a doubt, even though I love Spoodles.

I have heard so many good things on the board about Konas that we decided to give it a try this year. I can't wait because the pictures of the food looks delicious!!

I love them both - they are both in my top ten restaurants at WDW, easily. The garlic shrimp, sangria, rigatoni and dessert sampler at Spoodles are the best!! Kona is consistently excellent - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The mahi mahi is luscious! The grilled at lunch is even better than the macadamia at dinner! The sticky wings are also a favorite of mine, not to mention the great coffee at Kona. It's a nice, relaxing, casual environment and the food is just great.
If you can try both, even for a breakfast, I would. If not, let the entertainment sway you. At the Poly, if you got an ADR around 6:30-7:00, you could arrive around 5:45, see the torch lighting ceremony, walk around the resort, explore shops, have a cocktail at the Tambu lounge, have dinner and hang around the beach for the fireworks! (or easily jet to MK). At the Boardwalk, you can see the performers, play a few carnival games, have dinner and possibly go dancing or to Jellyrolls afterward, or go over to Epcot for IllumiNations.

Kona...hands down!
We make it a pointto eat there EVERY trip. Never had a bad meal!
My husband is hooked on the sticky wings (appetizer). I always get the crab cakes as an appetizer too! The mahi-mahi is so yummy and my hubby always orders the beef tenderlion. Dessert....You can not go wrong with CHEESECAKE! Ugh! Now I am starving!

I didn't vote because we have never been to Spoodles, but we have always had a good meal at Kona.

I think Kona it is! I asked DBF last night- he likes the entree menu better at Kona & the dessert menu better at Spoodles. Neither one of us will be trying the seafood at Kona, the coconut almond chicken or the turkey medallions both sound right up our alley! :thumbsup2 I wish I liked fish because everyone is raving about the mahi mahi!
Can't wait to see the Poly though & get one of the Lapu Lapus!! :woohoo:

Liked them both on our last trip, but liked Kona a little better. Spoodles has changed their menu since then to remove a few of the items we had, so I think I'd definitely go with Kona.
