I love them both - they are both in my top ten restaurants at WDW, easily. The garlic shrimp, sangria, rigatoni and dessert sampler at Spoodles are the best!! Kona is consistently excellent - breakfast, lunch and dinner. The mahi mahi is luscious! The grilled at lunch is even better than the macadamia at dinner! The sticky wings are also a favorite of mine, not to mention the great coffee at Kona. It's a nice, relaxing, casual environment and the food is just great.
If you can try both, even for a breakfast, I would. If not, let the entertainment sway you. At the Poly, if you got an ADR around 6:30-7:00, you could arrive around 5:45, see the torch lighting ceremony, walk around the resort, explore shops, have a cocktail at the Tambu lounge, have dinner and hang around the beach for the fireworks! (or easily jet to MK). At the Boardwalk, you can see the performers, play a few carnival games, have dinner and possibly go dancing or to Jellyrolls afterward, or go over to Epcot for IllumiNations.
