We are going to be checking out the Christmas Decorations at the monorail resorts this December and wanted to have a relaxing lunch. We have had dinner many times at Kona but never for lunch and have never tried GFCafe for any meal.
I really have not seen many comments about GFC but the menu looked good so we made our ADR for there, now I am second guessing myself and wondering if we should switch to Kona.
Please share your experiences with either and help me choose.
We are 4 adults, no kids this trip...

Thanks!

Bev

Either one is a great choice. I'm a huge fan of Kona for lunch, simply because I enjoy their menu (peanut chicken plate lunch--yum!) but we've had many wonderful lunches at GF Cafe.

Are you looking for more traditional American food or do you like the Asian-inspired food at Kona? GF Cafe is light and airy, Kona is darker and more exotic. GF Cafe if a bit more set back from the action and a bit quieter (but still a busy WDW restaurant) and Kona is more in the middle of the action.

It's all a matter of personal preferences. I don't think you can really go wrong either way.

Have eaten at both, and I like the GFC for lunch. It is a very pleasent place to eat. Its not busy with a lot of people, If your looking for a relaxing place to eat this might be what you're looking for. And I like the food at both Kona and GFC.

I think pearlieq summed it up perfectly. Oh, and marvin, too.

We enjoy both very much for lunch. But it's a rare trip that we don't have lunch at GF Cafe.

While the Kona lunch menu looks great that is a pretty noisy area to eat at. I would try the GFC and then check out the giant gingerbread in the lobby

It's actually rather peaceful at lunch. The sound of the waterfall is there of course. But the crowds at 'Ohana are not present at lunch nor are there as many people heading for the monorail at that time of day.

But the decorations at the GF are certainly worth a stop no matter which restaurant the OP picks.:thumbsup2

We had an absolutely lovely lunch at GFC in May. There are some pictures in my trip report if you are interested!

If you really want to see the decorations the GF I heard from my Parents is the best. And I can speak for both resturants but I would say for this experience I VOTE for the GF Cafe.:cheer2:

I agree with Grand Floridian Cafe! The food is always wonderful, and the atmosphere is great!!!
