Kona or Boma on our last day?

Hello!

This is my first trip to DW and my first post! (although I am quite a lurker...my intro should probably read, "My name is Susan and I'm a DISboardaholic")!!:hyper:

...on to my dilemma....

We fly out at 5 pm the last day of our trip. We're staying at the Poly and using Magical Express. Our travel agent said we'd probably be picked up at 2:00 pm.

I've booked a reservation at Boma for "brunch" at 10:30.

What do you think? Is that do-able? Or should I scrap that and just have breakfast at the Kona Cafe?

We are early risers and I was thinking that it would be a long day hanging out at the hotel with nothing to do (our park passes are only 4 days and it will be our 5th day, so going to a park isn't an option). It would eat up some time traveling back and forth to the AKL...so my kids won't be totally bored hanging around the Poly from check-out time until 2 pm....plus, I was hoping to see the AKL lobby...it sounds fabulous...

I'm just wondering if we'll have enough time to eat and get back by 2. Seems reasonable, but of course, I've never been there, so I have no idea!

I also wonder if I'm up to navigating from the Poly to the AKL...is it difficult? Or just time consuming? Is it worth it to squeeze in this last thing or just eat at the Kona and chill out??

Thanks in advance,
Susan (gr8fulmom)

A few months ago we stayed at CBR and had breakfast our departure day at Boma, too; worked out fine. We ate earlier because our ME pickup was earlier, but a 10:30 ADR should give you lots of time. If you're worried, bump it back to 10 am.

Your best Disney Transport option is to take the bus from Poly to AK, then take the bus from AK to AKL; you don't have to use up a park admission when you are just doing a bus transfer out front. Reverse the process to get back to the Poly. If you get in a bind, you can always take a taxi direct from AKL back to Poly.

AKL is well worth exploring at any time of day; enjoy! And the food is good too....

I would do Boma. If you are running late you can take a taxi after brunch. We love the breakfast at Boma.:thumbsup2

I agree with this. But you can use the pool at the Poly even after you check out.

Boma would be great, but honestly I would not risk trying to get back on the bus system in time. It could easily take an hour for brunch, so you are planning on only 30 minutes to get back to Poly in time? Just plan for it now and take a taxi :)

I guess we are in the minority here, but we didn't think the Boma breakfast was anything special. In fact 2 of our last 5 trips we stayed at AKL and still made breakfast ADRs for Kona Cafe to get the Tonga Toast and DW likes the Macadamia Pineapple Pancakes.

Now AKL is worth spending some time exploring, but I wouldn't go there just for breakfast at Boma.

We stayed at the Poly just a couple weeks ago. The last morning was very relaxing -- we slept in, and went to eat at Kona around 930 am. The breakfast was fabulous and lasted me all the way till dinner (I had the pineapple Macadamia Nut pancakes, only finished half of them!). Every one in our group of 10 loved their food and coffee!

So I think you would love breakfast there if you decide to have a relaxing morning :)

I think you have plenty of time to get to AKL and back, but I honestly hate using the buses to do things like this - such a hassle and lots of standing around and waiting. If you are set on using the Disney transportation system, I would go with Kona so you have more time to really enjoy your last day. If you're open to the idea of taking a taxi one way (or both), Boma and AKL are a great place to spend some time.

Thanks to everyone for responding!

After thinking it over I decided I would rather sleep in and relax instead of using the DW transportation system up to 2 hours that day (and I'm too cheap to pay for taxi service!)

The final decision was actually made by my 15 year old daughter...I had assumed she wouldn't want to go to a character breakfast, so I hadn't even thought about Ohana. But after I described all the options and she heard Lilo and Stitch would be at Ohana, she got so excited and her eyes lit up! She loved Lilo and Stitch when she was a little girl, but I had assumed she was "too cool" for that stuff now...Apparently I was wrong! (The magic is still alive!) Yay!

So I've decided to go with Ohana for a late breakfast.

Thanks again for letting me talk it out!
