Kona Island Sushi Bar / Kona Cafe

I thought I remembered reading that you could order from the Kona Cafe menu while at the sushi bar. Is this true? What is the seating like?

I can't get a ADR for Kona Cafe for our last minute trip and was thinking this would be the next best thing.

Sorry, but I think it's the other way round - you can order sushi from the sushi bar if you're eating at Kona Cafe.

I just posted on your other thread that I just cancelled an ADR for Kona for 31st August. What date/s are you looking for, there were plenty of alternative dates and times for me when I looked.

Yes it's 100% true because each time I have gone to the Sushi Bar they also gave us the Kona Cafe menu along with the Sushi menu.

Yes you can! I was just at the sushi bar 2 weeks ago and the waiter seated us with the sushi and cafe menu.

Thanks all, that's good to know. We're gonna go at 5pm, when they open for dinner to see if we can get a table at Kona Cafe. If we can't, hopefully I'll be able to talk DH into eating at the sushi bar. I saw a picture and the seating by the window looks kind of neat.

Wilma ~ August 15 or 16 is when we want to eat there.

The seating is counter/chairs near the bar or along the wall. I enjoyed having a sushi roll and a Kona appetizer when I ate there a year and a half ago.

Another great thing about the Sushi Bar is that you don't need ADR's to eat there and I think their Sushi is worth the wait if the chairs are all taken.

Great news - I did notice last night that there was an ADR for 8.35 on the 15th. Is that the one you got?

Yummy! Sushi, OMG and Kona is great. We will prolly have sum this coming trip. LOVE Kona and LOVE their Bloody Marys', the best I've ever had!!

No it's not because they open at 5:00 PM.

Captain Cooks also has sushi you can purchase (packaged to go). We have always been successful at getting into Kona walking up just before they open......Sometimes with a slight wait......

The Kona menu on the WDW website now shows cucumber sushi as an appetizer choice so it makes me think that you could order other sushi items if you ask.
