Well technically we were there last night! Blew my mind from beginning to end. Kids went to neverland, while the four adults went out. From the lapu lapu to the bread, then the pot stickers, tempura shrimp roll....all amazing! Then I had the ribeye with mashed potatoes and broccoli. Insanely great steak!

I then had the creme brûlée.....best ever.

Ok so our bill was $200, but so worth it. Not one bad comment from anyone, loved it!

Yay!!! We are staying at the Poly in July, and have a ressie for Kona!! So excited! Is the steak that you got the teriyaki or ginger one? Or did you just get a plain steak?

I wondered that too. I'm not a fan of the teriyaki one and was thinking of trying the ribeye, but wasn't sure about the ginger crusted part. I just added Kona to my ADRs a couple of days ago. We've been many times, but just decided to add it last minute for our trip 7 weeks from now.

Yum! Love Kona... In 180 days :scared1: I will be having MY Lapu Lapu and ordering a Volcano Roll from the sushi bar. Glad you enjoyed it!

I changed a reservation from The Wave to Kona last minute for our trip 2 weeks ago. Wow I am so glad I did - it was probably our favorite restaurant of the trip! I can't wait to go back, its definitely on a must-visit list.

And now I have even more things to try from this thread! We did the sticky wings, which were so good! And I had that creme brulee too and it was fantastic. And the Ahi tuna oscar, if you're a tuna fan, was delicious and perfectly cooked.

:lovestruc Kona is by far my favorite restaurant on property...never had a bad meal there!

I just made our ADR's for our summer trip, and it made me sad that I didn't make one for Kona. :( Our goal was to only do new-to-us restaurants this trip, so I have to give it up. Even DH was teasing me about it a couple nights ago. What I didn't tell him is that we may be stopping at the sushi bar for some rolls to go.:thumbsup2

Glad to hear it!
We are trying Kona for the 1st time, for our first disney dinner in may :goodvibes

Can't wait!!! :wizard:

Ok, what's the lapu lapu? I don't see it on the menu and you peaked my interest!!

I just might have to go to Kona! Never been. (Well I have been to Kona in Hawaii. hehe)

Lapu Lapu is a delicious drink that they serve in a hollowed out pineapple...it is a few different rums and some fruit juice. It is amazing. And one will rock your world...:rotfl: In a good way.

Last time I had two, and DH said I was wobbling on the monorail. :headache:

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your meal. We've eaten at Kona 6+ times and have NEVER had a bad meal there. It is a MUST-DO every trip. :thumbsup2The teriyaki steak is very good and we don't find the glaze to be overpowering at all (but we love teriyaki sauce).

That sounds extremely dangerous and awesome all at once. I want me a Lapu Lapu! :rotfl:

I have loved every meal I've had at Kona. The ginger-crusted ribeye was wonderful, and the seasoning was NOT overpowering. Also love the shrimp/scallops, and the bread with nut butter is a favorite. I did try the Lapu lapu last trip, and it kicked my behind! :)

What is Lunch like here? was thinking of a Lunch ADR at Kona

We have lunch at Kona every trip! Best lunch - hands down! Our tradition is to open MK, hit all of our favorites, then take the monorail to the Poly! So nice to cool off on the Monorail before lunch. After lunch we walk down by the pool and beach and take the boat ride back to the MK for more fun. It is a great way to rest and refresh, without going back to our resort. As for the food - These are some of the things we always get and absolutely love; Sticky wings, pot stickers, Big Kahuna burger, Asain noodles (forget the name) and there is a great salad also. Deserts are great as always. We had dinner there only once, and honestly I was a little disappointed with it, considering how much we love, love, love lunch at Kona!

Glad to hear good things about Kona, we are going in September for the first time. I think we will really enjoy it!

We love Kona - for dinner. Not a fan of lunch. They do not serve their wonderful warm sweet bread with macadamia nut butter at lunch. When we requested some we were served cold, stale bread obviously from the night before. Everything really was just a little 'off' from the server to the food the only time we have gone for lunch. Maybe it was just a bad day. I'll enjoy my dinner at Kona in the future.

We have eaten at Kona several times and the food is always superb! We had a bad experience with our server a couple of years ago and we haven't been back since. We decided to give it another try this upcoming trip, so our fingers are crossed for a good meal!!!

I just thought that I would throw in my two cents! We try and make a point of eating at Kona each trip. We love it. It's amazing each time. I love the bread, the steaks and the desserts! It's a great value for the price I think too. It's certainly not the cheapest place on property but it's not rediculous either. We are going back in April and have ADR's!
