We tried Kona Cafe for our arrival night last October---we loved it so much we went back another night! My reviews:
Night 1:
I had the Prime Rib with smashed potates and julienned veggies. What can I say- I was starving and it was fabulous! The Prime Rib was marinated in an Asian flavoring, but not overpowering...the potatoes were red potatoes with their skins left on...the veggies still crisp yet tender. I had a Kona Sundown to drink and it was tasty! The entree was $20.
My Mom had (this was our mother daughter trip- oh so fun!) the shrimp and scallops with rice and a slaw. She loved her meal as well- she liked that the slaw was more of a vinegar than a mayo slaw.
Night 2: I had the veggie spring rolls- two HUGE rolls filled with crisp, flavorful vegetables. these are deep fried, but they don't feel heavy or greasy at all. They were my favorite meal of the trip! Came with two dipping sauces- a hot one and a more traditional plum sauce. It was $13 or $14.
Mom had the chicken stir fry- again, flavorful, crisp veggies with the right amount of chicken and great looking noodles.
You get an assortment of breads and a big rice cracker to begin with.
Both times we did not wait- the first night (a Friday) we had a PS, second night (a Wednesday) we did not. Both times service was quick, friendly and efficient. It is a must do from now on!
