Talked to WDW cake hotline about a cake at Kona for my DD8's upcoming 9th bday in Oct. She gave me some options one being a FREE celebration that Kona does with cream puffs. I like the idea of free but don't want to cheap out either. Has anyone done this or have a pic of what it looks like. Since this is just a celebration for the 4 of us if I order a cake I planned to go with the mini wedding cake for 30.00 from the GF. We will be having a large birthday when we get back home but the night at Kona is her actual birthday day and her first ever MNSSHP. Any info would be great! Thanks guys.

I'm sure your daughter will be thrilled with whatever you do. They may have changed the way it looks these days but in May 2009 this is what one of the adult dessert options looked like. It is the Kona Cone. I gave my adult dessert to our almost 8 year old granddaughter. As you can see, she was extremely happy with it!

When we celebrated a birthday there back in 2010 they gave us a cupcake, not creampuffs. I don't know if this has changed or not. From what I understand, they do still decorate the plate the same way for the birthday dessert. That image is done in chocolate.

The Kona cone is wonderful! Has a waffle cone with Mickey sprinkles in it and Mickey icon at the top, plus it sits in a wire rack with cotton candy around the base and then mmhard candy pieces around that too.

This is pretty much the EXACT same question I was looking to ask, except our DD will be 7 when we go for her birthday in Oct. I've been thinking about ordering her a cake, but she's not really a big cake eater, but LOVES ice cream. I hate to waste a cake (and the money) if she can possibly score a Kona Cone! (not to mention, I think I rather have a Kona dessert off the menu than a cake...) I think I may hold off on the cake in hopes of getting a free (but not guaranteed) treat for her!

Just curious, do you special order the (free) cream puff thing, or just note a b'day on the ADR and hope they provide?

We had breakfast at Kona and were surprised with this when we were celebrating our 20th Anniversary. We were so full from breakfast, and gave the kids the cupcakes.

If it were for a child's birthday, I'd go for the Kona Cone! That is an awesome creation!

We ate at Kona during my wife's birthday week, and they gave us the cupcakes to go in addition to the dessert we ordered (two adults). I don't think you'll get the Kona Cone for free. I would make sure her birthday is noted on the ADR, and order the cone out of pocket if she really loves ice cream (it's not that expensive, and really fun), and maybe score the cupcakes as a bonus.
