Kona Cafe

Nope....it is very informal (think coffee shop atmosphere with incredible food)!!

Thanks SB in KY! We were thinking of going there for our anniversary meal. Hope it's not too informal! We don't want or need fancy/expensive....just something nicer than a food court.

It's one of the more informal TS restaurants we dined at. We went early September and it was still hot. We wore shorts and casual shirts and did not feel out of place, but it's definately not a food court! Great food. Enjoy! :goodvibes

Kona is one of the best kept secrets on disney property...we love it.

Get one of their Pina Coladas (real or virgin). You'd swear you've died and gone to heaven. Yes, they are that good! There is also a drink in a pineapple (forgot the name) people have raved about.

I hope people will realize that Kona has WONDERFUL food, but its not a fancy restuarant. I saw at least one review where the people were upset by the atmosphere. Kona is a cafe, not meant to be fancy. It just happens to have really good food.

We're just looking for somewhere "nice" to go for our 25th anniversary meal. Picked the Kona because we like the Polynesian. Thought about O'Hana's but it sounded like there would be too much going on there. Would O'Hana's be a better choice??

IMHO the food is awesome. The atmosphere is nothing special. I wouldn't consider it a "nice" restuarant, but then neither is Ohana. Again in my opinion the Poly doesn't have a "nice" restuarant. Ohana is more enclosed and has more decorative touches. Kona has better food with a greater selection, but feels like a coffee shop that opens on to a mall. Its open, it can feel loud. There is an open dessert kitchen that is fun to watch and of course what it really opens on to is the second story of the Poly lobby, which is pretty nice and tropical.

If I ask myself if Kona is a special occation restuarant, I have to say no. But if I ask myself if Kona's food is special occation quality, I'd have to say yes. You'll have to decide which is more important - an "atmosphere resturant" like Cali Grill or Artist Point or Jiko - or - really great food no matter where it is served.

I went there last trip and thought it was awesome. I agree it is the best kept secret! I will be returning. I think it would be a nice anniversary dinner. They have a nice selection of wine and really good deserts! I say try it. I don't think you will be unhappy especially if you like the Poly. You can look out over the atrium and hear the water fall. :goodvibes

We loved Kona Cafe. It was our best meal of the whole trip. We had the Steak Teryaki and it was to die for.

Kona has very good food. I love the Prime Rib. It is very casual though. If you want nicer maybe try Narcoosees or Citricos.

Yes. They have a very strict dress code. You must wear clothing.
