I currently have a 5:15 ADR at Kona Cafe on a MNSSHP night. I have never eaten here before and wanted to know a couple of things. Is it any good? Is the service fast? How is the ambiance? Any info would be great:

It's one of our favorites. If you ask the server to be speedy - you will be fine. I believe the party starts at 7 - you will have plenty of time.

It's an open restaurant right off the lobby. You should enjoy it.

I have had both breakfast and lunch there and really enjoyed it. The service and food were both really good.

I like the Kona Cafe. The food is good, the prices are OK, but I would have to fault it on the ambience. The restaurant is by the main hallway on the upper level of the main Poly building, there is a half wall separating the restaurant from the hallway, and there tends to be a high noise level in the lobby.

Kona' is on our top 3 list of dining in WDW. It is our first stop every trip. yummy bread, great seafood and a great desserts. I agree with the person that commented before me on the setting. Don't expect a cozy secluded table; it's located in the middle of a busy area in the Poly.

It's a small and very busy restaurant. The service has been speedy when we've gone. It seems that it needs to be in order to keep up with demand. The desserts are good, the appetizers are great. We didn't order entrées when we went for dinner last — we just ordered a roll from the adjacent sushi bar and shared a couple appetizers instead. Ambiance is non-existent. It's got all the charm of a mall eatery, but the food is good enough to overlook that.

Food is good. Desserts were particularly good. The service was very prompt. With having a 5:15 reservation time, you should be fine. The ambience as other posters have suggested is lacking. On our last trip, we sat on the outside perimeter of the restaurant. We could see everything going on in the lobby area. It really took away from the feel of the restaurant. Another poster put it best that you feel like you're at a mall eatery. The food and service made up for the ambience, though, so don't let that stop you from going.

I have found that a mnsshp party night is not the best time for a sit down dinner. True the party starts at 7, but over the past three years when I have gone I was able to get in as early as 4 or 5 with my party ticket (true all the party fun doesn't start till 7, but any extra moment in the park is good enough for me). Also if you have kids with you, it is hard to keep them still for dinner when they are thinking about halloween costumes, fun, and candy! I usually catch a hot dog at caseys on main street or some other quick service idea, and save my table service money for a less hetic night. For any other night I would agree that Kona is a good dinner service option when visiting he magic kingdom for the day.
