I love Kona cafe and would love to do breakfast one morning but traveling for the first time with my 5 year old with a peanut and milk allergy , I know alot of what they make uses nut products .. I'm worried about the cross contimanition , Should I skip it this year???

I love all of the restaurants at Disney because they handle allergies so well, except for Kona. Two years ago I didn't feel safe to have my daughter eat there. Things probably have changed but at the time I felt the server didn't understand how cross-contamination could be an issue. Since they have dishes that contain nuts, I couldn't take a chance.

Kona is a Disney owned/operated restaurant, so they'll sen out a chef to your table to go over allergy requests. Make sure you have the allergies noted on your ADR. I have dairy allergies along with several other allergies and have eaten here several times with no issues. My nana has a mango allergy, which Kona uses a lot, and she didn't have a problem eating there either.

Sorry you had issues last time, that's never fun. Next time you should ask for a chef, especially if one isn't sent out to you. I'm surprised your server was taking this information as Disney standard is to send a chef to your table to discuss allergies. Every disney owned/operated sit down restaurant is supposed to do this. Most of the TS in Epcot are contracted out as are the ones in DTD, Swan/Dolphin, and CSR so their policies are different. I'd give Kona another chance; the food is really good.

The chef came out and talked to dd and explained what was safe and what wasn't. Since practically all Disney desserts contains nuts of some type, she skipped desserts most times. The chef at Kona made her a special gluten free/nut free dessert (ie ice cream sundae).
