HI!

I was just wondering if anyone knew if the option of pick 3 (1 appetizer, 1 entree, 1 dessert) at Kona Cafe for dinner part of the regular Disney Dining Plan? And if so, is it one sit down credit?

Thanks for your help!

I wish more menus at Disney had this option....that would be great.

Remember, it's not pick any item. It's a limited selection for the prix fix. It tends to be the cheaper items on the menu. And for 2013, the wording of the dining brochure, suggests that they *might* apply a surcharge when ordering.

On top of that, the price of the prix fix menu is actually only a break-even deal on the dining plan. You could pay $29.99 for the prix fix menu. Add in a beverage and tax, it's about at $35, pretty close to the break-even point for the DDP. (Throw in a $15 QS meal and a $3.50 snack, you're at $53.50 in value -- which is the peak price of the dining plan, or a $2 savings under the off-peak dining plan price. In 2013, if they don't significantly increase the price of the prix fix menu, and even if they don't apply a surcharge, the menu would lose money under the DDP pricing.

On the prix fixe menu for Le Cellier, if you're paying cash and you select the least expensive entrees, it actually costs a bit more to get the three courses via the prixe fixe than it would to purchase them separately.

That's why I think some if not all of these menus were designed specificially to steer dining plan users away from the expensive entrees by offering them an appetizer if they select a cheaper entree.

Jury's still out on what the paragraph in the brochure actually means. It could mean that every prix fixe menu will have a surcharge, or it could mean that SOME of the restaurants will (Marrakesh already does.)

I suspect that it's just language they are inserting to cover Marrakesh. But may also give them leeway in the future. The very gradual progression of skimming value off the dining plan. I don't think every prix fixe menu in 2013 will suddenly have a surcharge, but we will see.
