We have a PS for 'Ohana, but I really like the look of the menu at Kona. We don't have time to do both. Is the experience at 'Ohana superior to the food at Kona?

I only ate at Kona Cafe once. It was fine but not anything special. The food at 'Ohana beat my meal at Kona by a long shot but I have heard that many people love the Kona. The good part about the Kona is that they have a menu for you to choose from vs. "Ohana where you get what they bring you!

Well, Ohana is one of our very favorite spots for dinner. Great food, great atmosphere, great views! However, Kona is hands down our favorite spot for breakfast! So, if it's dinner, I would go with Ohana. (But try to squeeze in a Kona breakfast!)

Well, I think both of the restaurants have GREAT food. But if it's atmosphere you are going for, 'Ohana wins in my book. Kona is an open cafe, and you have a view of people coming and going inside the Poly, but no outdoor view (I guess you might be able to see the monorail if you are seated on the far side of the restaurant- I'm not sure cause we were seated on the other side both times). There is also no entertainment at Kona. I had the prime rib one night and the veggie spring rolls another night and both were EXCELLENT. The service was also very, VERY fast and friendly both nights we ate there (they we not busy either night).

'Ohana- what can I say except it was our favorite meal on our 10 day trip last Feb/March. And we ate at a LOT of Disney restaurants that trip. The service was great, we loved the food, and the atmosphere was very relaxing. We were lucky enough to get a PRIME window seat facing the castle and they shot of the fireworks about 20-30 minutes into our meal. We were there with my parents and my MIL and both were just amazed at the food and view. We all wanted to cry with happiness when we were seated! (We had had a view bummer meals before this meal so this sure made up for those disappointments).

I loved both restaurants- in fact, they both easily make my top 5 faves in WDW, maybe even top 3. But 'Ohana wins the atmosphere mark in my book.

We enjoyed both....but I would have to agree with GEM....definitely do KONA for breakfast and O'hana for dinner. I don't think you will be disappointed.

You have to be really hungry to eat at 'Ohana. They've got a ton of appetizers including bread, wings, rice, salad, veggies and a number of dips. Then they bring you skewers of turkey, beef, pork and shrimp. They've also got hula hoop games and coconut races for the kids which is pretty entertaining! Since I've been on my diet, I prefer Kona since I have a smaller appetite ... but you can't go wrong with either, I've had great service and food at both!

'Ohana,'Ohana,'Ohana

I loved 'Ohana ! As I am making our restaurant plans for our next trip, it is definetely the number one on my list!
We thought the food was great. The presentation is very different in that a lazy susan is placed on your table that contains appetizers, salad and veggies along with several dipping sauces for the meat. The servers bring the meat to your table on long skewers and serve you off of them.

Our kids loved the hoola hoop contest! And the warm carmel dipping sauce for the pineapple is..........YUMMY!!

Oh, but I have never been to Kona,LOL, so a comparison I cannot give you :scratchin

I had the same dilemma! I am going to sneak off early one morning and go to Kona for Tonga Toast:tongue: ;)

I am booking our PS for Ohana.:D Then I get an excuse to check out the Poly gift shops:p

We LOVE Kona for dinner. The quality of the food is as good as more expensive restaurants like Citricos, Narcoosse's, Jiko, California Grill. Seriously! Yet it's a very casual place. We skipped it for many years in favor of the aforementionned spots but it is now a must do for us.

We also have to do breakfast at Kona at least a couple of times per trip.

Still have never tried 'Ohana for dinner as the menu just doesn't appeal to us. Did do the character breakfast there first year that it became 'Ohana.

Kona is sooo good. Less than five weeks until I order that wonderfull mahi mahi with macadamia crust. Yum!
