Kind of a random question here! We are doing a split stay moving from Pop to Poly. I have one more TS that I have to use for the first half.. So can we do this?...

Check out of Pop, Travel to Poly, Eat Breakfast at Poly and then Check into the Poly? I'm just worried about the transfer between the dining plans!

And finally, what would you recommend for that breakfast... Kona Cafe or Ohana? We are a young couple.. No kids.. But don't mind kid stuff. However we do appreciate good food! We've been to Ohana for dinner and loved it and will be going again this trip. Finally, my bf is a huge pancake fanatic so it would be nice if those were available!

Thanks so much! :goodvibes

we are veterans of split stays.. and often do so cause we don't want the DDP for the entire stay.
we PURPOSELY save a TS credit for the first night at the new resort. you can check into the Poly as soon as you get there. your TS credit is STILL good until midnight the day of checkout, no matter where you are. you don't even have to use it for breakfast. you can save it for kona or ohanas that first night.. we do that all the time.

we have stayed at POFQ on the DDP.used a snack credit for beignets for breakfast. then drove over to Wilderness Lodge. checked in. got our room. lied by the pool. went down to roaring forks and used 2 CS credits we saved to grab tw sandwiches brought them back up to the fridge to save for the next day. then went to eat at WHispering Canyon with 2 TS credits we saved for the first night at the 2nd resort. we like to stretch the dining plan.

in fact, don't waste snack credits. they are good until midnight of dayof check out also. so instead of eating thinigs you aren't hungry for, for wasting them on a bottle pop or water, use them up at capt. cooks check in day.. buy snacks that will "keep" in your room or in the fridge, for the next couple of days.

Thanks so much for your help! So on that transition day would have two kttw cards? So you would just use the appropriate card for each meal?

We did the Ohana character breakfast at the end of September, as two adults, and thought it was just ok. The family style skillet they serve was just ok and basic... eggs, bacon, sausage (which was nasty), Mickey waffles, and biscuits. We did Tusker House earlier in the week and preferred the buffet for more of a selection.

I checked out Kona's breakfast menu on the way out and we agreed we'd try that next time. Ordering a meal, rather than being served family style, would be better for us and we really want to try the Tonga toast! Plus we like the looks of the open-style seating in there.

Yes you'd just have 2 kttw cards. I too wouldn't waste my credits on the breakfast. I'd save it for dinner that night. If you want Kona that is a cheapy oop. I think there food is better than Ohana for breakfast unless you are looking specifically for characters.

Hi there Stinie!

Sorry, I cannot help you with the dining plan because my family and I have never used or wanted it so I'll have to defer to my more learn-ed colleagues! :surfweb:

As to O'hana for breakfast ... ehh ... dining credits or cash ... neither are worth spending at the breakfast O'hana in my opinion. Like you, my family and I are in love with O'hana for dinner, and if you look at my past posts on it you will see that I have a STRONG bias in favor of O'hana, and since we've have had so many great times there we decided to go to the breakfast and we were sooooooo disappointed! :guilty:

The service was lackluster and inattentive and the food was just barely okay as the eggs were runny and the bacon was a little chewy. Maybe it was just a bad day for the place and we just happened to be the lucky ones but that soured us on the whole thing and even if they gave us the breakfast for free we would have a serious talk about going back.

If it is solely between O'hana and Kona Kafe I'd say take Kona! the menu at Kona is a little limited and over priced but I'd say you'd enjoy yourselves more at that place than the other. :thumbsup2

Should you be up for a little travel I'd recommend Cape May Cafe over at the Y&B Club! It's a character breakfast without the deafening noise and hustle-bustle of Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey. :woohoo:

I hope I helped a little bit! If you have ANY questions please do NOT hesitate to ask!!!

when doing a split stay we usually do a package for the first part, including the dining plan and the tickets.

the next part is usually room only (with a room only code or AAA) so we used that kttw card only for the room key and chargin. we leave the tickets on the first card, and use it check in day for the dining.

(you can transfer the tickets to the new card. many do. we don't like to.. had an issue with it not working once,so we just keep both. (or, sometimes 3!! last trip we stayed at 3 resorts)

oh yeah! you get the planet hollywood voucher with your package.. but if you are on the dining plan, who is hungry enough for yet another measL? they don't care which date you use it. we have used it during the room only stay many times (even if the room only stay is BEFORE the package, since you get the vouchers in the mail ahead of time (we have stayed 3 nights at a nice resort first, not going to any parks, just relax at the pool , downtown disney, mini golf, maybe a water park)

We were originally going to have one part be room only but we are hoping to get free dining for both parts and heard we had to have packages to do that. Thanks so much for your help! You're all awesome :)

yeah, unfortunately , to get free dining for both resorts, you would need 2 packages. including the obligatory 3 days of tickets (I think it's 3 days now) the 3 days would start at the begining again with the new package(the most expensive days are the 1st 4)
at least they did away with that ridiculous requirement to buy a $100 photopass book!
