For those of you who have dined there, what's the atmosphere like? We are four women who want to have a meal at the Poly but are hoping for a bit of a grown-up atmosphere. Thoughts?

This is a great restaurant. It sits on the second floor of the Ceromonial bldg with huge windows that allow you to watch the monorails come and go. One side of the restaurant is open to the center of the bldg which makes people watching fun. Overall this restaurant is very relaxed, the food is very good, not to mention the amazing desserts and service.

If by adult atmosphere you mean a restaurant without children, Kona is not what you're looking for as it is certainly "family friendly." It isn't especially quiet either between the rushing of water from the waterfall and the excited voices in the lobby.

But there are no games or shennanigans either. Just really excellent food and service at a decent price. We love it.

My adult daughter and I had dinner there a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed it greatly. There didn't seem to be an overabundance of children running around either. They sat us near the front windows, so we had nice sunlight. Dinner was very good, too.

We had dinner at the Kona Cafe last June. It was our first visit and absolutely loved the food and the atmosphere. We got there a little after 5:00pm and it was extraordinarily quiet. The food was excellent as was the service. The Kona is now on our "must do" list for our upcoming trip.

DH and I had dinner there in FeB, alone, without our DS's . It was HAND DOWN....THE BEST MEAL WE HAVE EVER HAD AT WDW!! ( but maybe it was also the fact we were alone too!!) Anyway, food and atmosphere were awesome! And the desserts........

Enjoy!!

Kona Cafe is just that - a cafe, with a great menu and even better food. The food, from appetizers to dessert is wonderful, and unique with an asian theme, and could be served in a fine resturant. However, the setting is more open air coffee shop, with one side of the resturant open onto the upper lobby of the poly. I'd deffinatly recommend this resturant, but not for a "fancy" dinner or a "special occation"

Well, they don't swing towels in the air, yell, or have coconut races. ;)
It is good eating. :) Casual dining, without being too casual
If possible we try to get the waitress named Donna. :)

I think it's a great restaurant. casual, but great food. I went there twice last October as the food was SO good. One night I had the prime rib and mom had the scallops and shrimp. The next meal I have the spring rolls and she had the chicken stir fry. Both times the service was fast, efficient and friendly, and the food was delish!
