We made ADR's for one of our last mornings of our Free Dining trip! All our TS are for buffet dinners, but I wanted to do a bkfst. I think we'll pay for it OOP as we have all of our credits accounted for otherwise.
My question is, is it worth it? I want sooooooo bad to get into Ohana for dinner, but just can't get anything earlier than 9 pm all week were there. So I thought that would be a great way to see The Polynesian. Ohanas bkfst was a possibility, but given the costs and the fact that my girls do eat bkfst, just not a huge amt to justify the cost. So I thought we'd try Kona Cafe...what do ya' think?:surfweb:

I thought it was good - not worth the trek next time but glad I tried it. If you're going on your way to MK, then I think it'd be an easy stop.

Coffee is best on property. Many rave about the Tonga Toast, but I found it disgusting. The macadamia pineapple pancakes were tasty. Not anything I couldn't make at home but things taste better when I didn't have to cook it myself ;)

I would give it a shot - the Poly is gorgeous.

we all loved the tonga toast!!! we'll go here every trip for sure!! very tasty! plus I just love the Poly:love:

I found the Tonga Toast seriously disgusting too. I could only eat one bite...sooo greasy:scared: I agree about the macadamia nut pineapple pancakes, though. Those are good. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat at this restaurant for breakfast, but it's good if you're in the area.

We go to Kona for breakfast every trip. We love it for breakfast AND dinner :cloud9:

We love Kona too. Towards the end of the trip I get the fruit plate (more like a Platter) & some Kona Coffee.

Kae

We always have one breakfast at the Kona. It's worth it for the coffee alone.

Every trip we go to Kona - breakfast if good and I agree with jeffbear worth the coffee alone!

Thanks everyone, now I feel better about booking this one! I think it's more about going to the Poly than anything. And we're not in a hurry, because it's a pool day for us, so we can take our time and check out all the poly has to offer:cloud9:

love it and my family - we are NOT big breakfast eaters.

A definite must. Coffee is great, and there are plenty of good choices besides the tonga toast (which is good but definitely can make you sick!). I think you'll like it - oh, and from another post - MAKE AN ADR!

Thanks everyone, I'm glad I did book this one now! I'll just stay away from the Tonga Toast, not really into super rich foods. At least I'll see the Poly:goodvibes Who knows, maybe closer to our trip there will be a cancellation for Ohanas for dinner like I originally wanted:lovestruc

My kids and I were looking at this restaurant...and one of the things I felt we had to try was Tonga Toast....so many raves on DIS. But I had also heard it was really rich...and the description sounds like it too, and tons more sugar than we normally eat. Since none of us want JUST that for breakfast, we decided one of us would order the Tonga Toast and one of us would order the Big Kahuna, which includes french toast, pancakes, eggs and other stuff....so we'd all just throw it in the middle of the table and eat family style, lol.

and I think we ordered fruit too.. it was plenty of food for 4 of us. :yay:

DEFINITELY TRY IT! I was debating the same thing before I left but my mom and I really wanted to try the TONGA TOAST! I'm about to put some pics up in my TR so take a look if you want!

Kona Cafe is my favorite place for breakfast at WDW. We usually go there at least once on our trips (sometimes twice). I love the Tonga toast. :thumbsup2

I was really glad that I had a chance to try the Tonga Toast. Strangely enough I did not find it all that rich. It was very good, it had a sweetness, but in my opinion, not too sweet. I told my hubby to order something else so that we could split because I read that you cannot eat the Tonga Toast by itself, but I did and had no problem doing it. I'm a tiny girl too, so it's not like I can just put food down....

The fruit plate was great, my husband had the macadamia and pineapple pancakes and they were also great. I don't know that I would go out of my way to eat breakfast here again, but it was good and I'm glad I tried the Tonga toast once.
