What is your favorite entree? I was thinking about the Terriyaki steak for myself? Is this cooked to your request as in medium= pink. Sorry, but blood dripping from meat makes me want to be sick and just seeing that could ruin the whole meal for me.

Also my one ds is asking if he can get the snow cone thing in the bucket. I told him we are not going to ohanas this time, we are going to Kona and they dont have it there. Has anyone asked if they could order it and that the cm could get it for us. It would just make ds day. TIA

Ok the Steak si cooked to order(and was perfectly done medium rare- perfect pink inside!! ) My DH's favorite! And I LOVE the Macadamia nut Mahi Mahi. Just delish!!
On deserts only thing I know about for the kdis is the Kiddie Cone and that is the best around- with cotton candy ect.... there are pictures on here if you search. My kids loved it and can't wait to eat it again.

The Teriyaki steak is great - it's got a spicy-sweet sauce that is delicious to sop up with your mashed potatoes. And yes, they'll ask you how you want it cooked.

For the record, that's not blood that you see in a rare steak. The red color of the meat and that juice (which is mostly water) that drips out is myoglobin, which is mainly responsible for oxygenating the muscle tissue.

I went for the Macadamia Nut Mahi Mahi and it was just beautiful. I had never heard of the fish and was wary but I must say, it was one of my favourite meals. For dessert I chose the banana creme brullee - again delish!

Here is what the Teriyaki Steak looks like, it's our favorite dinner item:

I ordered mine "medium" and as you can see, it's pink inside, not red. I can't stand it too rare either!

A different trip, same meal, just as delicious!

I always, always, always have the Macadamia Nut-Crusted Mahi Mahi. The order is so large that 13 yo ds and I split it at Christmas. Dh has gotten the steak before. Yummmm!! Of course, I had to have a bite!! It is cooked to order as mentioned above. Dh had the Pan Asian Pasta on Christmas Eve and raved about it. Here are a couple of pictures from various trips:

Here's the Mahi Mahi:

Thanks for the replies and especially the pictures. We are eating at the Kona Cafe on our arrival night in April. I am debating between the Terriyaki beef and the Prime Rib
Has anyone ever had the Prime Rib?
I am looking forward to this meal. Is there a better place to sit in the restaurant than others? I have read some complaints about it being noisy with the crowds waiting for 'OHana. Any suggestions.

Wow. Everyone takes a lot of pictures of their food. LOL.

I love the beef teriyaki and sticky wings. I can't wait t go in May :)

Ditto! Well, I have to wait until August, but...;)

They also have a very good Caesar Salad and I like to subsitute the sticky rice for the potatoes that come with the beef (it used to come with the rice before they changed the menu).

Thanks for the pictures, SqueakyMouse -- you made me so hungry! :rotfl:

I love the Kona Cafe, it's one of our all time favorites as well. I've never really noticed a problem with noise, tables closest to the kitchen and furthest from the resort lobby/monorail entrance, etc would probably be the most quiet.

DH always orders the Teriyaki Steak and loves it. The serving is huge, even though he's a big eater it leaves him stuffed!
Enjoy! We have to wait till September to go back!

I'm almost hurt that nobody mentioned my favorite dish: the Char Crusted Filet Medallions in a five spice mushroom demi-glace flavored with Kona coffee. And the crab cakes are pretty darned good, too!
