Kona Cafe at Poly

We love the Kona Cafe. We have breakfast there almost every day (Tonga Toast, Big Kahuna, Macadamia Nut Pancakes, so many choices...).

We always manage to sneak in for lunch or dinner at least once every trip as well. I love the Kahuna Burger, the prime rib and the sushi. DW loves the Asian Noodle bowl and the sushi as well.

Would DD17 and I be permittd to share a dinner? I'm thinking perhaps wings for an appetizer, then the teriyaki strip for entree.

You can order what ever you want and share as you please, as long as you're not on the dining plan... :thumbsup2

I also love the potstickers. Don't forget the potstickers. They're delicious.

The Kona is a real gem, you wouldn't think it. I remember the first time I went there for dinner, I was really surprised by how great it was.

And don't even get me started on the breakfast. Yum.

It's my favorite place for dinner! They have wonderful food (tried just about everything on the menu aside from the seafood) the desserts are fantastic and the bread and butter they start you with is the best I've ever tasted! We are going there twice on our upcoming trip! Enjoy :goodvibes

has anyone tried the coconut almond chicken? or have a picture? would love to see this

Can someone please try to explain what a "potsticker' is?

It's the same thing as a chinese dumpling - it's a dough filled with pork or chicken or vegetables, pan fried and served hot, usually with a sauce drizzled over the top or on the side for dipping.

I'm sure if you look at the Disney Food Pictures thread you can find a photo of the potstickers from Kona.

I did not read all the responses but I ate at the Kona Cafe last Thursday and it was very good.
I had a dish that sounded like it could be good or REALLY bad. It was some kind of BBQ tacos.
It was BBQ in a fried flour tortilla and a jalapeno sour cream sauce. It was really good!! I do not remember the name of it though.

The wings are a large order about 12 pieces, DH thinks 15 pieces. We were there for lunch and dinner and only got the bread at dinner time - I'm not sure if you can request the bread at lunch time - nobody else at the restaurant seem to have any so we did not ask. We did not get the teriyaki strip but it seemed to me that the entree portions at dinner were on the large side so definitely shareable but smaller at lunch time.

I heard Kona was very good, We have not had the chance to eat there. Our next trip I want to. would it be better for lunch or dinner?

Love it! :lovestruc
Kona is one of only two "must do" dinners that we dine at for every trip.

Portions are nice, interesting flavor combos for apps & entrees (pomegranate BBQ pork chop :cloud9:),
and you actually get a normal size veggie serving at Kona-
not one baby zuchinni :magnify: smothered in mashed potatoes but a whole side of broccolini or smoky greens to enjoy.

That's my secret to enjoying good health & digestion at WDW- eat some veggies at every meal...:thumbsup2

Their crabcake appetizer is to die for!
Looking forward to trying the banana creme brulee' this time...:woohoo:

I don't have a picture, but this is my favorite meal. My mom and I stumbled upon this late one night a couple of years ago. Now it is a must do meal for us just so I can have the coconut almond chicken. :thumbsup2

I have eaten there at least once every trip. Breakfast. lunch,b dinner, never an issue. I also love to go here for lunch on a busy MK day. So much more relaxing than being in the parks.

That's a good question. And you know what, I can't decide! :) If you put a gun to my head I'd say dinner.

just ate there the other night!! The potstickers are actually duck but don't let that scare you, they are AMAZING!

Has anybody been able to request bread for lunch? Also, what time does dinner start?

We love Kona Cafe! It's my favorite WDW restaurant & a must do on every trip. We've never done lunch but always do breakfast & dinner, sometimes multiples times. So many tasty things on the menu & the desserts are to die for & the Kona French Press coffee at breakfast! Can't wait to go again in a little over 3 weeks!
