Kohl's return question

I have heard you can return anything at any time to Kohl's. I found a bra, still on the hanger it came on, all tags attached, with the receipt.

It is from 2005.

Will they really take it back? I just assume it is a done deal and keep it even though it obviously didn't fit.

Will they take it back 4 years later? I would be shocked if they did.

If they still sell the bra, take it back w/out the receipt...they won't know it's from 2005 & should give you a store credit...worth a shot! :)

I'm curious to know what happens as well.. I have a jogging suit that I never wore, tags still on, and I have the reciept.. I'm too chicken to try to bring it back myself. :lmao:

Yeah I'm anxiously waiting myself! I have a pair of jeans and a sweater I had bought for my DS that didn't work and they are in the bag w/tags still on and receipt and I'd love to return them and let her get something for fall. Hope we hear what happens......

If you have the receipt. Take it back no matter how old

HEY , i take it you are not a stock holder in the company ? Do ya care about the profits ? How is the store supposed to re sell a bra that is FOUR years old ? It's not old enough to be vintage yet. :-)

I think you'd be better off donating it to the Goodwill. Returning an item you've had for 4 years is taking advantage of the company and the return policy.

I just returned a pair of sneakers to Kohls. Now I had only bought them maybe 2 weeks prior. However, when I returned them with my receipt the employee never even opened the box. He scanned the outside of the box, scanned my receipt for the return. Never asked me anything (why I was returning). Then tossed the box in a bin. After my refund I said to myself, I could have filled the box with rocks instead of the sneakers. I guess my point is I can't believe he didn't even look to see if the sneakers were in there.

Kohl's has great customer service, which is why a lot of people shop there. I have returned items after long time periods, although nothing quite that old. If you don't have the receipt and used your Kohl's charge, they can find it and see what you paid. I would bring the receipt and just be honest. What's the worst that happens...they say sorry, no.

they do have receipt lookup for purchases made on your Kohl's charge card, but there is a time limit. After a certain time (can't remember how long, but I'm thinking it was a year, but might be 6 mo) even on the Kohl's acct, they won't be able to find it.

OH PAALEEEZE
Okay, I'm sorry but EXACTLY HOW is that taking advantage of the company and the return policy? :confused3 THEY are the ones who set the policy. If the item is clearly unused and you have the receipt showing you actually bought it, Please explain to me how that is taking advantage. They are the ones who advertise their return policy. Kohl's gets a good bit of my business because they are still CUSTOMER SERVICE ORIENTED unlike other retailers. They're smart that way. Yes, they realize that they may get back old things ocassionally, but their satisfied customers continue to spend lots more $$ in their store. It just stupid to think that utilizing THEIR policy is taking advantage. I guess when something is on sale there, I should tell the cashier, "NO! NO! I want to pay full price. Getting this on sale for less is taking advantage." :sad2::rolleyes2
BTW, I don't recall the OP asking if she should donate it or for what you think the ethical thing to do is. She asked would the store take it back after that long? So you didn't really didn't even answer the question that was asked.

OP, if you have the receipt and it is unworn, I say take it back. Without the receipt, they will only offer you pocket change for it and at that point I would say either donate it or give it to someone who might be able to use. it.
Best of Luck with your decision. :goodvibes

I just left Kohls. I had an exchange. The young man and his mom in front of me were bringing back a pair of leather Skechers because they were "falling apart". The sales associated commented that he bought them in APRIL. He was returning a pair of shoes he'd been wearing for 4 months. She was a little skeptical about taking them back but called to check with the manager who agreed to give him a full refund "this time". WOW, that was generous customer service.

That was a little OT, but it seems they may take anything back.

They pretty much do.

My co-worker works there part-time, and they will pretty much take anything back. Customer service is the priority (at her store at least) and they want their customers happy, so they'll take almost anything back. She was recently telling me how she had to do a return on a watch that was well over two years old...so, OP, I'd say return it. The worst they can say is no (though I really doubt they would!)

Four years is a little too long, IMO. Has the OP been sick or travelling out of the country ? I can't imagine why someone waits that long. Did the Koh's store close that was near their residence. Not sure why it took four years to decide to return. They will not be able to re sell it. Who would want to buy something sitting in a dusty drawer four years ?

Most stores start out with a liberal return policy. Eventually, that goes away when too many people abuse it. Then they become hard line policy administrators and no one ever gets a break. If you come in 31 days later and the policy is 30 days , too bad. Koh's will have to revisit their policy if this kind of thing continues.

I'd be curious to know if Koh's does take it back because if they do I'm gonna sell da stock ! I'll consider it grossly mismanaged. LOL

I work at Kohl's part time. I do not work customer service, but as a general rule we have to follow "yes we can". Then will do just about anything to satisfy the customer. We have even returned items that came from others stores.:confused3 I really don't know why they do that, but they do. Anyway just return the bra!

bolding is mine....
Exactly!!!! IN YOUR OPINION
However, right now the only opinion that matters is Kohl's. So she is completely within her rights to return because she is not violating their policy or asking for an exception. I'd say go ahead and sell your Kohl's stock then, cause I'll bet $$$ they take it back. Someone I knew took back a counter top appliance that they had used several times and told them that they didn't care for this product and wanted to return it. They did not hide the fact that it was used. Kohl's didn't bat an eye and took it back no questions asked. But, I know that this was a purely a case of buyer's remorse. After they finished the return, the went back to the sales floor and upped their 'anti' to a Kitchen aid. That is abuse of the return policy. and BTW, they're not going to put the bra back on the sales floor. Many old/older items can be returned to the vendor for credit or they will 'off' it to a wholesaler. If they return it to the vendor for credit, Kohl's loses nothing, but keeps a 'happy' customer. :goodvibes

A couple months ago I took some kids clothes back that I had purchased at Kohl's and forgot I still had. They were probably 2 or 3 years old. I still had the tags on them and had the receipt. They did take them back at the price I paid but would only issue store credit. I thought that was more than fair.

I think I will write a letter to the Board of Directors and attach copies of this Dis postings to let them know what's going on at the lower level operations of the company. If the stock is gonna perform someone has got to take some action and revisit the policy.

Let's give Kohl's an opportunity to make the shareholders as "happy" as they are try to make the customers. :-)

If they don't do anything bout the policy , then, maybe it's time to sell. I would have to start a thread to ask where do the Kohl's shoppers that return things 1 year to 10 years later shop cause I don't want to buy that stock either LOL .

Wow, I used to shop at Kohls all the time, but I've found that thier customer service is horrible and refuse to shop there now. I bought a frame at the store near my Mom's in Austin last Christmas vacation thinking it would look good in my living room, well, I get home to Louisiana an decided I didn't like it so I tried to return it (maybe a month later), reciept and all, and even though the skew number was the same the item number was different than the one they had in thier computer so the store manager refused to return it or give me a store credit, even though the identical frame was on the shelf.

I've been ridiculed, as have some of my co-workers for asking if they have a military discount as most stores in our town do. Simple qestion asked politely, nothing further, no big deal. Well apparently it was a bid deal to the guy that I talked to and some woment that a friend talked to at a different time. Apparenlty Kohl's employees stance is that military members don't need a discount for doing thier job, but oh wait, Kohls employees get a discount for working there.
