Kodak Xtralife II paper

We scored a deal at Target where we got a raft of cheap prints. They are on Kodak Xtralife II paper, which to me indicates they are done either with inkjet or dye, correct? Mrs Thurl is all fired up to scrapbook with these pictures, so I want to see if I can find out before she starts: How long will these last? It's easy to read a manufacturer's claims, but not so easy to know what's real. Any advice appreciated.

This pictures are bright and colorful, but you can tell they are not photo-processed. They look 'funny' to me because of the printing process. I would not use prints from Target for something I wanted framed, but they will do for a scrapbook provided they last.

Final thought: This scrapbook would be a gift for a couple in their mid 20s so we'd really like it to still be good 50 years from now or more...

Wilhelm Research is probably the best resource for longevity of prints. Almost any recent name brand paper and inks appear to have a long life as long as they are kept away from light, outgassing plastics, and acidic paper.

If you provide the files as well as the scrapbooks the recipient can always print new ones if the originals fade. Most of my scrapbooking is digital on 12"x12" prints so they are easy to replace or duplicate.

It is a dye sub paper. They're supposed to last as long as wet process color prints.
