My DH got me this camera about a year ago, and I have been very happy with it except for one thing....if the lighting is not right the pictures are WAY too dark! The fireworks pictures didn't turn out at Disney, and whenever my kids have a play or performance at school we can't get good shots. We have tried all different modes, and nothing seems to work. Does anyone else have this problem and what can I do? Is it a digital camera problem? I hate to buy another camera, but if I do, does anyone else have another good camera suggestion in the same price range(around $300) that would take better pictures in low lighting situations? I am very frustrated that I can't get certain pictures to turn out, which is a shame because the other pictures turn out GREAT!!! Any suggestions??:confused3

I am not familiar with the camera, but does it have a manual mode that allows you to select the shutter speed, aperture, and ISO? If so, then you might get better results with that. Just be sure to keep the shutter speed high enough to prevent blurring. A tripod helps with this, but only so much if the subject is moving.

Unfortunately, Kodak is not known for their low light abilities. For a p&s camera, I believe that Fuji has some of the best low light ones right now, but Canon and Sony also have good reputations. There are probably others out there also. If low light photography is very important to you, then you might consider saving for a little while and getting a DSLR with a fast lens. If it is just an every once in a while use, then you might be better just saving your money all together b/c no p&s is going to give you great results.

i agree, i think kodak might have low light issues in general. i wonder if you could get a cheap film camera or even a disposal in good old iso400( if they make them) for the fireworks..it wouldn't cost as much as a new digital for just a few shots
