Kodak Easyshare replacement

I have had a Kodak EasyShare DX4530 for three years now, and it's no longer working after the kids used it at the beach in April. Kodak wants me to send it to them with a minimum repair cost of $95, which probably will be more after they diagnose the problem. I already own the 4000 EasyShare printer dock. So I'm wondering if it would be smarter to invest in a new camera that's compatible with the printer dock rather than fix this camera. I love the ease of the EasyShare, but might be interested in something that takes a little higher quality picture. Any suggestions? I guess I'm concerned with getting a new camera that's not compatible with the printer.

That's quite a dilemma. The printer dock is somewhat expensive (it IS a printer dock, right? not just the charging/sharing dock).

If you want something better, you can get the P880 from Kodak, but at the same token, you can also get other brands which will yield better IQ than any Kodak (given the same price range).

not familiar with the dock but is it pict bridge compatible? if so wouldn't any pict bridge compat. camera work?( and i think most are) or does it have memory card slots? or is it connected to the computer? worse comes to worse you could get a memory card reader( got one 12 card reader for free after rebate on ecost, they still have it on the countdown sale thread), and put the pic into the computer that way then print from the computer...if not, i got a hp photosmart scan/print/copy at office max for right around $100 ( $104 to be exact and so far it works great and prints great pictures)so you might be able to get a photo printer for $100 or less

Jann is correct, if the dock is PictBridge compatible, than any camera with PictBridge can work (not SITTING on the dock, but via USB cable). Including Canon's 30D.
