Hi,

We have a Kodak EasyShare DX7590, 5.0 Mega pixels, 10X optical zoom digital camera. I have used it for years, mainly the point-and-shoot settings. I have not had good luck with action photos or indoor setting. Often keeping the flash turned off produces a better result indoors than doing the auto-flash. Can someone give me some basic tips for improving our Disney vacation photos, particularly in these areas? Also in nighttime settings. Red eye reduction is useless.
I have to keep packing to a minimum because we have DD4 and DD2 with all of their gear. We are on the go constantly, so moments to take a lot of time setting up shots will be few and far between. I find the instructions for the camera very confusing, so using the other features of this camera elude me. I don't mind using some of the advanced features or manual settings, but I don't know where to start.

Thanks!

I don't know too much about your camera, but I have included the comprehensive review from Dpreview.com.

It appears the camera has a lot of manual functions. IMHO you will need to learn these to improve your images especially the low light and action shots. It appears you will be somewhat limited by ISO, but this can be overcome by shutter and aperture with some stablization method (tripod, etc). You may want to find a book that explains these. Like many, I would recommend Understanding Exposure by Bryan Peterson. Good luck.

I have a very similar camera, the Kodak EasyShare Z712 IS, and honestly, I agree with Gianna'sPapa. Easyshares have their useless points when in low light setting, when on the point and shoot modes.
Usually, when I'm shooting in a low light situation, everything tends to be in manual, or shutter priority, becuase the flash tends to wash everything out.
I'd suggest learning more about all the different settings, and what you can do with each one.
Look online, pretty much anything you want to know about photography is out there. Just search what ever you're having trouble with.
